This is my first post here, I have been registered for quite a while but never posted. Just reading and learning.

however i do have a few questions.

Drivers Solutions, sign up, get 'hired' by one of their three partners who then pay for all but about 1100 bucks of the training for a year of your time with them, one of the schools they use is here in the city i live in so its close.

the only question i have is do they actually pay for all your CDL testing with the state? or is that an out of pocket expense for the driver/trainee?

The only thing that seems to be my real stumbling block is that the city has an ordinance that does not allow semi parking in residential areas, so i guess i'm asking what the heck i should do for parking if i have to bring a truck home?

    any help is greatly appreciated.

i went trough DS a little more than a yr ago and am still with USA.
after they take the 45 a week out for a yr you get a check back (mine was 721$) for the difference of school, because the 45 per week is gaining 10% interest.
i ended up paying only about 3-400 bucks after all was said and done.
i park my truck at the econo-lodge a few miles away from my house when i go home.
got any more Q's just ask! :biggrin_25519:

here is a stupid/odd question, the Drivers Solution site has those 'walk around' things of the inside of the trucks.. it shows the USA Trucks one as Auto/Autoshift ones.. are they?

could you tell me if USA has a dress code, also your personal opinion of the company and the pros/cons you've experienced this far in your career.

No, you still will need to pay for your permit, and your CDL

Find a store that will allow you to park there, nearby truck stop? nothing you really can do unless your able to fit the entire truck into your driveway..

they do but it is rarely followed and never enforced.
i've been mostly happy here. had good fleet mgrs that got me miles and got me home on-time.
the thing i hate most is the breakdown dept and shop work

Do a search of USA on here or go to company DAC reports. There is a wealth of information. Just remember that no company is perfect or everyone would be there. You have to filter out the BS (folks that are unhappy no matter what or who are victims). Someone will have something to say good and bad about every company. Go in with a good attitude and you will be fine.

well i've been reading the Company DAC stuff for USA, PAM and Averitt since i found the Drivers Solution site. I asked about the dress code because on the DS site they list what Averitts is, but didnt have anything for USA even though USAs website mentions it.

i understand the whole 'some people have a good experience, some people have bad ones' thing, thats just how life is after all.

Thanks for answering my questions and giving your opinions.

I started out looking at DS also, after doing extensive research on this forum, I found some really good stuff about Willis Shaw Express. They're a reefer carrier owned by comcar. They have alot of reviews about them in the forums, all mostly positive. They also have their own CDL school in at their Boise, ID terminal. I decided to go with them and I'm leaving on 4JUL to start school on 7JUL. You might wanna check with them, they're really selective about who they hire. I consider that a good thing. Just thought I'd mention it...good luck.........
