All good answers, we don't do this often and I've asked them to not pit me on these loads. The fact that people are telling me to move on shows that they gave no grit, maybe they think they have no right to stand up for themselves. I DO pick my battles but if opening my own lumper company and charging them a ridiculous price keeps them from sending me on trips I don't want to do, so be it. We as a whole need to stand up for ourselves! What ever happened to the master freight agreement???!! Stand up for yourself!!!! 50k a year is ########!
    End rant.....

Oh stop whining. You know what I do for a job? I carry 400lb dressers down flights of stairs. By hand, I pack that trailer from the floor to the ceiling, wall to wall, front to back. Next time you see one of those big trucks that say UNITED across the side, I fill every inch of it by hand. 1,500 boxes of flowers would be the easiest day I've ever had at work. What's a box weigh, maybe 10-20lbs at most? And at .18/box, that's still $270. To make that, I'd need to work a 14 hour shift. And we're not even counting your pay for driving. Man up.

Now that that rant is over, yeah, you can run a business being a lumper. Just, be ready to do what I do, because I'm who hires lumpers, because I don't want to unload that thing, that stuff is heavy.

Sounds like your getting the shaft buddy. But then again we all are, because bobby Kennedys vendetta ended up with jimmy Hoffa dead, and any hope of wage bargaining we had died with jimmy and his idea to unionize every trucker. GOOGLE MASTER FREIGHT AGREEMENT. hey rockstar no disrepect I applaud your hard work man but you signed up to move heavy #### i signed up to run produce. And on top of it wouldn't you want to be paid by the hour instead of by the mile? Fugn a man we ALL need to get organized. How many miles a week do you drive you don't get paid for?

You must be a troll because you can't be serious.

It appears that you have been a driver for 2 years. You are lucky to have a job and now you want to repeal deregulation because it was so good in the old days? Hate to be the one to tell you this but maybe you should have researched your career choice a little better. You're still an apprentice. I hear the burger flippers and the coffee makers are trying to get organized. Maybe you should quit now because, it's going to be a loooooong career pal.

EDIT: And FWIW, as a flower hauler that gets $275 for unloading himself, I imagine you are the envy of many a produce hauler. Something tells me you wouldn't handle rejected loads and long waiting times very well.
