That's one part of this job that the new guys are not being trained on...they're not being told to carry emergency supplies in winter time...

Problem when even when they are told, they're not smart enough or don't care and then cry like babies when they're stuck. At that point I say screw them.

    drvrtech77 and loose_leafs Thank this.

Even if you don't have a fridge or microwave, beef jerky, cans of soup/spaghetti, water, and heater meals will get you through if shut down due to things like this. I'm well stocked throughout the winter because God forbid if I go without a meal.....,

1:30-2:00 mark is full of one truck passing every 3 seconds. 3 second following distance, driving in a pack on a slick road, low visibility, going to fast for conditions, all while going downhill(laramie to cheyenne is about a 2600ft drop) oh and all that with the cb off I'm assuming since you know ppl were had to be screaming "pile up eastbound pile up, at mm###". Yup what could have gone wrong.

Yikes! I've got to get a load from Denver to Tracy, CA. Running north to I-80 and west to Sacramento then south is the shortest route. I'm considering heading west on I-70, which shows wet and slushy at the passes. After that I have a choice whether to work my way north to I-80 in Utah or south on I-15 to Barstow and west on US-58.

    Thoughts?

There is minimal difference in mileage running 70 and over Soldier vs. going over I-80. With the Charlie Foxtrot that has been up there, I wouldn't even chance it. Over the hill I go! Cotrip just shows wet roads on top, whereas even if you ran 287 to Laramie and 30 over to Walcott Jct (Which would as long as over 70,) 80 is still closed from there to Rawlins.

TL;DR climb them big hills and coast downhill to Utah.
