New Camera System Coming to all company trucks.

Ugh. I am ploughing through this thread with steam coming out of my ears I'm so mad. Seriously, I am Herman Munster, and my neck bolts have turned red. And I'm replying to a week old response before I've read the whole thread. Ugh.

So does this mean Crete does not have cameras in their trucks now? According to other threads here, Crete, Shaffer and Hunt all have cameras in all their trucks. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

So which companies definitely do not have cameras? Better yet, which companies have gotten rid of them?

 

You really think people will find it all that interesting? Seriously? We're talking about truck drivers here, not supermodels taking topless selfies... and if truckers are doing that, 99.9% of people would rather have their eyes burned out with acid than watch those videos.

When you're on a public roadway and commit such a violation, it's already "in the wild for all to see".
Every single one of us on this forum could die on the road tomorrow, and nobody would give two #####, unless a celebrity was involved... and it wouldn't be you they gave a #### about at that point.

I got $20 that says you never thought to ask the question of, "who would actually give a #### about such leaked videos?".

 

You know, there's a lot more companies out there than the mega carriers. You know. The kind that wouldn't think of putting cameras in.

 

Some of the male drivers have bigger boobs than the female celebrities. And yes. There's a market for that. We live in a strange, strange world.

 

This is one of the attitudes that makes the steam come out of my ears. And, no, I am not attacking you, I'm attacking this concept.

So, you're in a relationship. And your significant other says to you, "You wear this camera 24-7 because I don't trust you. In the mean time, I'll be over here in the jacuzzi with these hot people. You have to be faithfull, I don't. Rules don't apply to me, only to you."

I'm sorry, there are good relationships, there are bad relationships. This is a bad employer - employee relationship, when the company does not trust their drivers who are already making such amazing sacrifices, and drivers should run just as quickly from Swift as they would from any person who disrespected them.

And people who are only too happy to give away not only their own rights, but all of our rights, that is something I have a problem with.
Please don't do that.

Yes, truck drivers are people. People have rights in this country. Some of us actually like our rights. We would like to keep them. People have fought and died for them. Don't give them away.

Simply because these rights have so little value to you, does not mean they are without value to the rest of us.

If you let them take these rights today, what will they come back tomorrow and take?

Let's put a camera in your bathroom. When you're taking a shower just close the curtains. Problem solved. Because your boss should have the right to put a camera in there. And there's something wrong with anyone who has a problem with it.

As long as you're not doing anything wierd in there, you shouldn't have a problem. Right?

Um, no. Some of us do not like being accused of doing wrong things without proof. Having done nothing. We don't like the concept of having to prove we're innocent 24-7, when we've done nothing wrong. And we don't like being accused. We do have a problem with it.

Why shouldn't your boss be allowed to force you to wear a microphone 24-7? To read every word you type. After all, if you're not plotting to do bad things, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Yes. Thanks to people on this site I found out about many. But I didn't know they existed until I asked here.

If the big boys do this the others will follow their lead. Like elogs.

Sadly, one of the companies I fell in love with was Nick Strimbu. I could give you 18 reasons why I thought they were a good, solid company. Just not for me.

Those are beautiful trucks, though.

So, which companies don't have cameras? Spread the word on the good guys.

That's easy enough to do. In the event of a crash, the plaintiff's attorney subpoenas the footage. If the driver was "distracted", he adds a couple zeros to the damages being sought because now there is PROOF of the distraction. If the cameras work AGAINST them in court in larger dollar amounts than it helps them, the driver-facing cams will be gone in a hurry. I'd bet the FIRST instance of $10,000,000 punitive judgment due to a "distracted" driver as evidenced by the driver-facing camera instead of a $100,000 damages/medical bills type award and the cameras will be no more.
