Yes they will deny employment and won't let you get a second opinion from your doctor.
It's not a DOT requirement.....it's only suggested.

Talked to a Crete recruiter today about this topic. She said a sleep study will be determined by the doctor doing your physical based on your BMI and other health questions. She said it wasn't mandatory for every new employee, despite what I've been reading on other Crete threads. Just relaying what I was told. But then again, it came from a recruiter.

RookieJ1987 Thanks this.

These companies don't require a physical if you have a current medical card; only a urine test.
Freymiller
TransAm
Paschall Truck Linesavenger79 Thanks this. -
The company that does the sleep studies for Crete has offices at most of their terminals. That says it all.

Prime does not. Though they'll offer you one and can conveniently sell you a machine. Not that there's money in over diagnosing the condition or anything.
Boston_Tankers_Girl and avenger79 Thank this. -
Sleep apnea is a condition not a disease. if left untreated it can and will reduce the quality of life. It can also kill you , due to the complicatications it causes i.e. hi blood pressure, kidney functions, heart attack. Like any abnormal health conditon, if you treat it - no problem. If a company doctor asks you any questions about your health, make sure to find out if any information you provide will remain confidential. Know your rights and the companies policies. I suspect you have an issue with sleep apnea, trust me, better you to find out using your personal physician, than a DOT medical examinar. Ignorance is deadly.

J&R Schugel will let you bring your own physical and med card from a dr that is on the registry. Bored for dot physicals. They will just want a urine test during orientation.

OK, now there's 5 to choose from:
Freymiller
TransAm
Paschall Truck Lines
Magnum Ltd.
J&R Schugel -
