Fact: With a driver facing cam ANYONE (yes it can be hacked it's wifi capable) CAN watch you as long as that camera is on.

Fact: I could watch 20 seconds video of ANY driver on the planet and from the DMV manual alone (we don't even need to get to company policy) show MULTIPLE wrongs on your part. Each of these could be used against you either in accessing liability or to end employment.

It's NOT can they, they CAN. The question is WILL they? No one can answer that for you but you.

When a company chooses to make a capital expenditure in the vehicle I'm driving that SCREAMS "this is corporate and we don't trust you", why on God's green Earth would I trust them.

As Captain Barbosa from Pirates, uttered, I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request.

Just think of the money they COULD pay us instead of the money going to driver cams and service they require.

Funny how Swift recruiters have "no knowledge" of driver cams, but other companies are answering their phones this way, "Good afternoon, thank you for calling ABC Trucking, we don't have driver cams. How may I help you today?"

It's funny a couple of the Charlotte drivers I've talked to had no idea we were getting cameras because they didn't watch the video. Why didn't they watch the video? Because nobody watches those boring idiotic safety videos and they assumed it was yet another one. I usually just play them while I'm hooking up/pre-tripping a container just to show I watched it but of course no I do not watch. It's funny: Me-So what do think about the cameras coming? Driver-Huh? If it's from the COO I really watch it.

I just heard on CNN most American (and Illinois) trucking companies have suspended offering sign-on bonuses due to Swift implementing driver cams. No need to offer the bonus. Swift has saved their competition millions!

I have a sick sense of humor Clyde. I'm a former Marine with 25 years of framing experience. My framing crew may have been the crudest, most obnoxious crew in NC. So your sick sense of humor is lost on me in this case. What you are doing is spreading misinformation. I prefer real info. Adding flat out lies helps nobody. I really doubt anyone here appreciates your "humor" on this. <Mod edit: No namecalling or personal attacks>

To be completely fair, I will clarify.

I do not work for Swift.

I do not want it to sound like I do and have some kind of inside info.

I will never put an application in with them b/c of the cameras. And the other things I read about them on here, like students mentoring students, team driving while training, roasting in trucks b/c of idle shutdown, being given 4 days to make a trip that could be done in 1, the no inverters policy – and many, many more that don't happen at companies that do things the right way.

Last year, I read threads in the Central Ref forum to see how the change over was going when Swift bought them out.

I recall people claiming that 2 ½ months later they still hadn't been paid for things like stop pay, and detention pay. If true, there is no excuse for that.

I'll give Swift the benefit of the doubt and think maybe it was just the Central drivers. Likely only some of them. And maybe it was only until Swift had fully integrated Central's employee database into their computer system. If it did happen, that these were genuine mistakes that Swift later corrected.

Swift may, in fact be completely innocent here.

True or not, I have read many threads, about many companies, from drivers claiming they were forced to sit after complaining about missing items on the paycheck.

The only reason I came to the Swift section was to see if things had changed.

If you like Swift, or work for them, I am not attacking you. If you're happy, great. I'm attacking policies I do not agree with. I believe Swift is asking much more of you than they should, than they have any right to, but if you're happy, that's what counts.

You've always been paid right and treated right?

Good. I'm glad to hear it. I hope it stays that way.
