TA Earle, Ar........
another one with an odd layout but got an easy out spot in the corner. first time I've stopped at this one it has the look of a gummed up obstacle course once it gets dark and the late night spot makers get here. I'm safe where I am lol
finished my deadhead to Atlanta this morning and then sat an hour waiting for a load that fell through. they ran me empty from atlanta on out to ecru so that was 539 miles total deadhead out of Columbia to grab the next one.
headed to the heartless yard in Seagoville, tx for a supposed to be 1800 drop. I'm going to slide in there around 1400 and get the hell out and get something headed in the general direction of the house before the dallas traffic gets stupid. hopefully
I hate Peoplenet, where are you parked and recipes thread

First Travel Plaza Northbound on the WV turnpike. Heading up to Holland Mi. Didn't get the call on this one until 2:30 PM. I was washing chicken, had music playing on the deck outside and was just about to crack open a beer.
Appointment time is 2 AM Friday but I headed out after dinner. It always takes 4 hours plus to unload this product. I plan to get there about 9pm and get my break in. Hopefully the rack will be empty so I won't have to interrupt my sleep. -
Finally got loaded out of Freeport at 5pm. When the computers got online they gave the OTR trucks loading priority as some of those guys were able to take a full ten hour break waiting to load. The guys there figured the local guys were on the clock so they got paid to wait lol. They cranked all 15 trucks in line out in about two and a half hours.
Stopping at the Love's in Ranger, TX to take a shower. No wait. I should play the lottery!TruckDuo Thanks this. -
watering can/pot... Which name in Portuguese is "regador"... I only asked because that same sign shows "banos" also and I thought it meant showers... But I realize now that "banos" means "restrooms" but with no showers.
Just arrived at hotel but it's a beautiful afternoon out there and I am thinking about going to the beach and getting my feet wet... Will post some pictures later... -
Baño does mean bathrooms both with or without a shower. But it's not uncommon to see W.C. like on a bus to indicate a restroom without a bathtub or shower, lol. The word "comodos" is also used to indicate a restroom with only toilets lol.
Rocks Thanks this. -
Loves in Katy, TX. waiting for the ex and my girls to get here for a dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Deliver in Sealy at 0415 then the truck goes in for (hopefully) routine maintenance then back at it Tuesday with a load from Sugarland to Laredo.
ncmickey Thanks this. -
W.C. Yes... I've seen those here in Brasil too... in places like at the airport...
The word "bano" (sorry... I'm using English keyboard) is very similar to the word "banho" in Portuguese which means shower or bath... And the word "banheiro" means "bathroom"...
But I don't understand why the word restroom is used in America... after all, restrooms were not made for people to rest... -
Last Tuesday was a national holiday in Brasil... and all business and post offices, banks, etc were closed. Today is another holiday... but only in the state of Rio. It has to do with a saint, São Jorge, and the the state of Rio... I'm not sure but I think São Jorge is the patron saint of Rio de Janeiro... This is a very Catholic country and there are LOTS of these kinds of holidays... All business close...
So, I couldn't have much done this week so far... Went to the City of Rio yesterday for some little shopping... Nothing exotic or chick or expensive at all...Needed some everyday working clothes... Didn't go to those expensive boutiques in Ipanema, Leblon or even Copacabana...
Instead, went to the people's popular shopping area in downtown Rio called Saara... Lots and lots of narrow streets, some only for pedestrians with hundreds of little stores that sell everything... They have pretty good replicas of what one can find at the expensive shops in Rio's South Zone but for much cheaper...
This is how Saara shopping area looks during some intense shopping season...
Inside bus at Rio-Niteroi bridge yesterday arriving in Rio.. rain, construction and TRAFFIC JAM...
To my right down there, the harbor...
And the truck gate to the harbor...
That's the "Terminal Rodoviario Novo Rio" one of Rio's main inter-state bus terminal... it used to be the front of the building... lots of construction in that area and now that side is not being used much.... that area is ugly and filthy... and very dangerous at night...
Traffic jam, traffic jam, traffic jam...
Ukumfe, kat man and RedForeman Thank this. -

Got off the bus and took another to downtown... It's a pretty ugly and filthy zone... near slums... Lots and lots of very old buildings totally destroyed and abandoned... and ruined with graffiti...
There are many more buses in Rio than any other vehicles...
Most streets are narrow...
I was told that one of the main avenues in downtown Rio, Ave. Rio Branco is under construction for the surface "subway" or train they will have sometime in the future... and there will be no more buses on that avenue... Hmmm... I wonder how long that construction will last... Right now it takes almost 30 mins for a bus to go a few miles on it... and lots of closed streets and traffic changes in that area...
Buses, buses, buses...
This is "Largo da Carioca"... a very popular area in downtown Rio... and one of the subway stations...
Thousands of people walk thru there everyday... lots of vendors of all kinds and artists selling their art to the public while people stop and watch...
This is a HUGE Popular Market next to the Saara.. it's like a maze in there... with hundreds of little booths selling A LOT of stuff!!! I didn't go there... Would need half a day just to browse that...
I went straight to Saara...
I knew what I wanted and didn't spend much time window shopping... and didn't stop for lunch...Didn't buy much but spent more than 4 hrs shopping...
That's one of the entrances to a kinda park... very big park near Saara... one gotta be "street wise" when walking in there... Lots of vagrants and bums and homeless folks living in there...
That's Avenida Presidente Vargas (Presidente Vargas Ave.) and the Central do Brasil... the building with the clock on top is the main train station... That place becomes NUTS!!! and pretty dangerous specially during rush hrs.... No unadvised tourists there...
Found this picture online... Inside Central do Brasil during peak hrs... It can be much worse than that...
RedForeman, Ukumfe and kat man Thank this.
