Next time "Magnaflux" your entire truck during your pre-trip. Then you can find those hair line cracks not seen with the naked eye.
And when you pick up a chassis, tear it down to each individual part to check it for defective parts.

I was a little confused with the cop worded your ticket but if it was for a slack adjuster being out of adjustment, that is the drivers responsibility and it is pre-tripable. That is an OOS violation so maybe she cut you a break.

Take note that guys with 22 yrs and 44 yrs experience suggest you might have noticed the bad u joints.

I agree it was s cheap lesson.

Face it. Cheese heads hate flatlanders. Anytime you venture beyond the cheddar curtain, you risk issues. Nuff said.

He also told me the best way to fix that truck was to unscrew the fuel caps drive another truck underneath and screw fuel caps back down. He didn't like that truck. We had a lot of problems with Rollins failing fix things correctly. Was glad when I got into trucks the company owned and maintained.

Actually, you could have found it - if you spent that amount of time checking every little detail during a pre-trip every time you hooked to a trailer.
And, possibly with someone else to help you with it like she seemed to have.

Bottom line - if they want to find fault, they will.
Be it the smallest thing in their small little minds.

We had a driver who was involved in a hit and run and called the Tennessee Highway Patrol and reported it and got a Level 3 for his trouble and got put OOS because the Tennessee computer incorrectly showed his Texas CDL was suspended.
