The Apple version says Truck HD. Maybe the reviews are all related to the iPad HD App? Your link took me straight to the reviews I quoted above.
I see Androids version doesn't say HD and see the reviews are good. Maybe ill just buy another tablet, Android based for the truck, my 10" iPad Air is too big for the windshield I think.
I have a Note 4 but would prefer a bigger screen for GPS.
Whats the BEST GPS?

First your iPad gotta be a 3g model to use GPS. Then when you download Copilot you have to set up freeways as strongly preferred and highways as highly preferred. Then set up weight at 60k. After this Copilot provides much better routing than Garmin and Rand. It sucks with POI's, but you download Trucker Path Pro and you are all set
-
Reviews are not good and there are some flaws, but I still like the app, because of it's routing
RoadCall Thanks this. -
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced Android tablet with GPS built in, 7-8"
Not worried about having the most current model since it will be mostly for GPS, thanks. -
Rand will never have routing that compares to copilot. according to the tech advisor on this sight. we'll get a ticket.
makes no sense to me. since trucks use other roads 24/7/365. that rand won't use. i don't understand how it can be the hottest selling item when it can't use efficient routing. along wit all the other quirks people seem to complain about. i mean. no other brand gps has tech support on this forum. 10million pages to boot.
i haven't tried other hand units but i find rand to be quite combersum in inputting addresses compared to copilot which is so easy.
i'm using samsung note2 for my copilot gps. the screen is big enough for me. i don't use my 10 inch tablet due to the fact i don't like my cab lit up at night. i also have the parameters set up for 80k grosss weight and 17k axle weight. and 13.6 height. as much as people like to harp. i've had no problems following my gps blindly. but, unlike a lot of drivers. i also use my eyes to make sure there's no signs. to which i can count on one hand the times that's actually happened.
as for POI's and all the other features rand offers. there's an app for that. for free. -
Anyone know how many gig of storage the Co-Pilot uses? Does it have night mode?
I found a Tab 3 8" for $140 -
Has night mode and maps use about 2.4 gb i think
RoadCall Thanks this. -
Either way at least there's some loyalty eh
-
the new map is 2.3 gigs.
do a hard reset on the device. completely wipe everything. and you can start off with your own apps. and will have plenty of memory.
there's only one app i know of that uses more then 2 gigs and that's sygic. that baby is close to 5 gigs. but it's also realistic scenery. mostly. -
According to a Samsung rep at Best Buy unless the tablet has cellular it won't work. Says it may have a GPS chip but it requires wifi and cellular to triangulate pinpoint accuracy while driving. When I asked how standalone GPS devices worked he said the GPS chip is different ... Really?
After pricing cellular tablets at Verizon it's not a big deal, $129 for a LG G Pad 8.3" plus $10 a month as an add on line. Before I go that route I've got some more research to do.
I belive Co Pilot would be best for me, just have to decide how I go about it.Last edited: Apr 26, 2015
