I look at where I'm at. Not a mega. But not real small. And the sense of entitlement and stupidity is rampant here. It's not just the Megas. It's everywhere. Drivers having meltdowns because they can't get what they want, late loads because why the #### should they do their jobs, destroying equipment because why not, it goes on and on and on. And it's their fault by the way. Keep hiring these mouth breathers that literally only take up space, and you get what you get. It's really amazing anymore what's in these trucks that are supposed to be drivers. "I don't go to the northeast!" " I don't go to Cali!" "I don't chain!" Then don't drive a ####### truck you Pamolive ##### hands #####. Drive 300 miles and need to sleep 8 hours. The nerve of these cretins that call themselves truck drivers. And Jesus Christ get a clue on how to at least try to look like you care?

Joseph, that's my exact point. The root cause of all of this is the people that are doing the hiring, they need to be taken out behind the shed and shot. They're just filling seats and not trying to find quality drivers. And they also know that mouth breathing cretins are stupid enough to drive for 15cpm. :biggrin_2556:
Quality drivers come at a cost and many companies big and small don't want to pay that.

Oh my god you aren't kidding. You see a guy with 10 jobs in 2 years or he comes to orientation looking like he crawled from a rock or fired from his last job, you don't hire him. It's that simple. But they gotta fill these trucks. We had one guy who let his truck roll down a hill in Cali. Cost $18,000 to recover it. Fired from his last job for being a moron. Another two idiots drunk at the YARD. and it goes on and on. Meanwhile the rest of us are just waiting for the hammer to drop because of the ignorant drivers. That's why the industry is headed for speed limiters and e-logs and driver cams. Safety messages everyday because billy bob forgot how to truck.

Joseph, will that hiring manager get fired? No. The cycle will go on and on.

Of course not. You don't see them fired at any company when they hire these idiots. Put butts in the seats at any cost. And you're right. It does create a cycle. "hey, Lessors hired me, I'll go to Abilene, and then Crete and then Swift" because these companies have created that monster. That's why I feel bad for Stan (KANSAS TRANSIT). He owns his little company, trying to put good drivers in the seats and give them a job and a chance to earn a living and he's gotta ask that question. It comes down to steering wheel holders not appreciating a job and companies ready to bring them on because that truck will at least have a warm body in it. Go through the threads here. How to get past a drug test. "I put a few dings in the truck and that's trucking". It's amazing. And then the non stop lease purchase threads where these guys don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of but they're going to be "Owner-Operators" but have no idea how to change a lightbulb. Wow. Just wow.

    Joseph,

Lessors is a good company. Dam shame that the company will hire drivers who are given the miles but still complain about where they go, fight with office staff and knowing your company....they probably give these clowns brand new trucks. Sad that even a company like Lessors will hire bad oranges.

Bullets are expensive and are not on hand and non-reuseable.

Ropes are cheeper and 70 chains are more on hand. Both are reuseable.

If I was a young guy looking for opportunity this is the way I would be thinking.

    Hire on as a driver.

Within a few years prove myself and climb the ladder to a position of helping run the company.

When stan decided He had had enough, buy the company out.

    Continue to grow the company.

    Sell the company.

    --------------------

Now if thats all possible I dont know. But if I was interested that's the way I would be thinking.

Guess their aren't a lot left that think that way? Or maybe not that many that would take the risk anymore?
    I dunno...

Well just got parked for the night here at the end of the world Champlain NY or as some would say the start of Canada! Again thanks to everyone that has contributed to this thread yes even Brandson it has given me some much needed insight and it has bee a great thread not because of the jack ### that started it but beause of the advice and involvement, I mean that sincerely.

There is so uch that I would like to answer or disuss but again still on this cursed tablet getting better though. Brandson and some of the other young guns make some good points about home time and who am I to say what is right or wrong for him?

But oung guys also need to understand something small businjess owners don't have a money tree growing in the back yard that they can visit ever time a driver wants a raise, everything is predicated on money in, oney out and enough held back to stay in the hunt even I the bad times.

Also the truth is I am siply a terrible salesman I will always underpromise and over perform. I think a lot neds to be said about how we operate and the freedoms that driers have here, For instance we don't dicate were you fuel as long as its a flying j/pilot, we don't specify a route just keep it within reason, we don't dicate whenpeople get to go home and tis is where I'M am spoiled yes I have guys that literally run monjths at a tie before going home but I also a couple of guys that get home every three weeks or so, I can tell by some of the comments I will have to work on that.

But for all of the young guys that are at the megas coplaining at poor pay and someone over your shoulder all the time they really should give small comkpanies a look see. We are probably as close as a driver will ever get to beig an o/o without all the bills and headaches.

Carry on Wayward Sons and be safe out there!
