It was a figure of speech. As a truck, he should not remain in the left most lane when going below the speed limit and when the natural flow of traffic is significantly faster and when multiple other vehicles have passed him and when he was not passing anyone else.
Was this trucker in the wrong?

You were making that pass way too fast. Looks like the box truck aborted the lane change because he thought the vehicle with the 4 ways was coming over. You were up in his space before he completed the lane change. You could have easily done your part to avoid this. So if you guys would have hit I would have put the majority of the blame on you

You see similar actions from U-haul trucks and other rentals. But any given truck can be driven by a person with little/no experience driving a vehicle for the first time that does not have a rear-view mirror. All I'm saying is don't expect every larger vehicle to be driven in a manner you might like or expect of your own driving style.
As many miles as we drive, we're going to encounter an occasional "odd-bird" on occasion and must be prepared to give them a wide berth, and give them an additional few seconds (or more) to demonstrate they are either going to correct the situation, or to determine they are driving in a manner they are comfortable with and are going to remain with ... this little bit of time is not going to make your load late. -

How is it acceptable in your mind to pass a vehicle that is halfway in the lane you intend to use to pass, regardless of the amount of time it takes for said vehicle to choose a lane?

I do want answers. Statistically odds of dying, car accidents are up there. It worries me. Driving ultra conservatively does not equate to never getting into an accident. Everyone knows if one only drove the exact speed limit or under in all circumstances, especially on some segment of the highway again the grain of a pack of wolves going far faster, it is actually more dangerous that way. I want defensive driving tips, and letting every slow truck get ahead of me, while courteous, is not actually effective towards actual defense/safety! -
