I have 250k on my 2015 T680. Fuel mileage is 7.7 for the life of my truck.

Had an AC compressor go out but aside from mystery check engine lights here and there its been rock solid for the last year and a few months.

That's good mpg, do you pull heavy most of the time, 70K or so? What has me spooked is im looking at a 2012, seems like it had many bugs then. From what I keep finding, the later models seem to do much better. How long does it take you to get the engine codes cleared? Do you need to go to RUSH or a Pacar dealer for that?

So far that's the only place you can go to, a Pete or Kenworth Dealer

See that's not good at all. Like I said I'm getting old, and I'd love a pete, but its so much risk if your repair, maintenance options are that limited.

I just had a full service done by an Independent shop. I tried to explain to the mechanic and show him in the owners manual that there is a specific way to change the fuel filters.
He did it his way and popped a rail pressure failure code (fancy way to say there was no fuel between the filter and injectors).
Anyway their diagnostic reader would not communicate with the ECM so he called his Buddy who had the latest version from Snapon which worked fine and cleared the code so no need to go to the dealer.

Snapon could clear the codes that you normally clear with the "Davie" tool?
You can buy the Davie tool but it is pricey.
    3500$ to 4000$

I've had constant check engine problems that I will never consider a paccar motor for my next purchase. I have a '11 386 with 630,000 miles and I'm in the shop as much as I'm on the road. Injector wiring harness goes bad too often and repair work adds up because you have to get a paccar approved mechanic to work on it. Fuel Mileage isn't bad (I pull between 25,000 & 40,000 daily) but I'm tired of getting the same codes. I would be driving down the road normally when my check engine light appears (throwing codes like injector spill valve or injector 1-4 went out, egr pressure, etc) and I would pull over, cycle the truck, then all the codes are gone and the problem disappears. Too often it does this and like I said, my future purchases will not involve a paccar motor.

Gave up and traded my 2015 T880 with only 91,00 miles and 9 check engine light hits on it for one with a red motor.
The MX13 was not the problem, it was all the after treatment systems that are not compatible / reliable that was the problem.

I'm driving a 2012 Peterbilt 386 with the worst engine I've ever driven, the MX-13. It has the 485 hp rating and an 18 speed transmission. Avoid this motor at all cost. The emissions are poorly designed and the electrical system will keep you on a first name basis with your local Paccar mechanic. No power, poor fuel economy, and constant breakdowns await the user of this motor. I'm about to replace another injector on my motor.
