This is why you shouldnt rely on a pension. Unions bleed these companies dry over the years and then eventually they go bankrupt. Once in bankruptcy youll play hell getting your pension because their actual debt is priority, pensions are last on the list.

I believe this is in direct relation to the OP's discussion. -
Not so fast there, unions dont bleed companies dry, cheap drivers bleed the industry dry. Everyone pines for the old days, but they fail to realize that back in the old days, most drivers were union. Its the first generation of "cheap drivers" that turned their back on each other, after deregulation, that have made most of truck driving the joke that it has become.Pintlehook and Shaggy Thank this.

Sure they dont bleed them dry, keep telling yourself.jlembie351 and sdaniel Thank this.

Wait a minute, it's cheap drivers that are forcing union bosses to spend union member pension money to lobby congress to undermine the pensions they're supposed to protect?
-
Although the pension is owned by the Union and the companies that contributed, I do not agree that pension balances were available for lobbying. Wouldn't lobbying be paid from current dues?
already gone Thanks this. -
The other side is these companies...not all but too darn many.....rip off the American drivers in the form of low pay...crappy runs and run to death.Dominick253, Shaggy and already gone Thank this.

IF this line of Bull is what helps you sleep at night knowing your paying a tax to have a job. That comes with no real protection then so be it.
The rest of us are willing to compete with the overburdened Union companies. We make good money and are home at night with our families just like you. With less stress to boot.Dominick253, jlembie351 and Gunner75 Thank this. -
you are willing to compete on your wages, that's what you are saying, correct? and if you cant take the stress, its not my problem. if your employer is so honest, ask them to sign a contract with just you, as a sign of respect. they would laugh you of their office.
Shaggy Thanks this.
