yep
unbelievable huh?????
I ALWAYS crawl underneath and check for the locking pin. ALWAYS. takes 2 seconds (and i hate to crawl) even after doing the tug test.
i know why it happens.
we have mostly volvos and freightliners and the freightliners sit higher than the volvo's (why I don't know, same size tire). So, previous guy comes in, drops the trailer and he's got a freightliner and maybe he's a guy who cranks a lot (me, i'm lazy, that landing gear touches the ground and I"m done turning). Then the next guy to get that trailer gets assigned a volvo and he backs in and it high hooks. it's in, but not really. I have never seen anyone (except me) get out and check that the fifth wheel plate isn't too high or low on the trailer. Everyone just backs right up and hooks up and sets and off they go. (they pretend to fix stuff, most guys pretend to do a pre-trip).
and bang, a turn or two later that sucker hits the ground. This is not a newbie company (MBM) a stupid company yes, but it doesn't hire newb's.

That's one nice thing about pulling the same trailer every day.
I run a spring ride, but I also hate the idea of the grease getting wiped off my fifth wheel every time I back under the trailer. So I raise it just off the fifth wheel.
Also, it prevents the kingpin from getting the snot beat out of it. -
Residential delivery of 4 - 5,000 watt gas generators on friday. Customer expected me to place the generators in the basement of his home. Thought he was joking after the 2nd off load. Signing the bills he was dead serious.
He refused to sign, I refused to feel sorry about his complaints of medical issues ( bad back, prostate cancer, kidney failure and recent shoulder surgery ). Told him to call a friend.
Customer had a Automobile lift in his residential garage and a adjacent metal fabricating shop.
The guy was clearly working on the car on the lift when I showed up removing a transmission by himself
Nothing on the BOL about inside delivery, I left, Screw it.
Still wondering if he will vent the exhaust fumes from the home lolroad_runner, Mike2633 and Big Don Thank this. -

What is so flipping hard about doing a tug test and visual inspection of 5th wheel?!
Already out of the cab hooking up the lines and raising the gear, Peak under for 2 seconds and a 3 second tug test. Those folks deserve it.
Basic crap 101. No sympathy -
A guy drug a Rocky set out of our yard 70 miles then the pup dropped. Cold night did a tug test not visual on the jaws. Luckily it slid up right onto the shoulder. Driver claimed someone pulled his pin at the port. Yeah right!
Shaggy Thanks this. -
