How new are you with Prime? If you're still in the PSD training phase you stuck with ATM fees for a little but. Supposedly you can write a comchek and cash it as a PSD but never had a student try.

If you are in the TNT phase or a solo driver you may need to send the direct deposit form into payroll so the money will go directly to for back account I instead of the card. The other option is to write yourself a comchek and use your banks phone app to deposit the money into your checking account.

Personally, I would just get with payroll to set up direct deposit to your checking account.

    darthanubis Thanks this.

I had that same issue when I switched from company to lease. They don't tell you during orientation that you'll need a business account for your LLC until after you set up your LLC and have signed all the documents. It took me 4 weeks to finally get home and to my bank to get that set up and then it takes payroll another 2 weeks before you get direct deposit. I used my banks phone app to deposit a comcheck every week until then, LOL

Not all banks may accept comcheck in phone app. I have accounts in two states, and neither bank will accept comcheck in app. One major bank, one credit union. Sure would be a convenient for me if they did.

If your Comdata fuel card does not have a Mastercard logo on it, it is a normal proprietary fuel card. It will be restricted to work at truckstops based upon whatever your company dictates, which might be for fuel only.

Comdata has a product called "expressCash", which is an addon to the proprietary fuel card. It provides for a compartmentalized side of the card that allows your company to send cash to your card for fuel advances, settlements, etc. When your company sends expressCash to your card, you can access that cash a number of ways:
    • Comchek draft using your card information (usually free at truckstops for up to $2OO if you're buying fuel, but the truckstop will probably charge you a fee if you want to pull off more than $200)
    • deposit a Comchek draft into your bank (many banks won't accept Comcheks, but I know Regions will--if your bank accepts Comcheks, you may or may not be able to deposit a Comchek draft to your bank via your bank's mobile app)
    • withdraw cash at Cirrus/Maestro ATMs--must be run as a debit transaction that requires you to enter your pin
    • use it like a normal bank card to make purchases at locations that accept cards on the Cirrus/Maestro network (at some stores you can get cash back when you make a debit purchase)--must be run as a debit transaction that requires you to enter your pin
    • download Comdata's FleetAdvance Mobile app to your smartphone, which allows you to check your expressCash balance and transfer your funds to your bank account--your employer must first link your bank account to your expressCash/Comdata card
Oftentimes--but not always--you will get one free draw per load to your card whereby Comdata doesn't charge a fee for accessing your funds. However, if you're doing a Comchek draft at a truckstop, the truckstop might charge a fee depending on how much you're pulling off and whether or not you're buying fuel. If you're pulling off cash at an ATM using your pin, you certainly will have to pay the ATM's fees whether it's your first draw or not. If you're not needing to access your expressCash funds on the road and you just want to get it in the bank as cheaply as possible, routing it to your bank account from FleetAdvance Mobile is likely your best bet.

Lastly, if your Comdata fuel card has a Mastercard logo on it, you likely have the Mastercard Fleet card---ExpressCash is not available on this type of fuel card

    Question from a newbie.
Why do you have to get money from Comdata? Isn't your pay direct deposited into your bank?

You can have it set up to direct deposit. Sometimes takes a while. But I just write myself a check. I get paid on Thursday. Cash/deposit check on Friday. Direct deposit wouldn't show up til the following Tuesday. It's just the way I do it because of having multiple banks. Seems most wont let you transfer money from their bank to another bank. None of my 3 will anyway.
