I locked myself out my truck about a week ago. Didn't want to pay the 75 to get someone out to open it so I bought a lockout kit from the truck stop I was at and spent 2 hours trying with no success. Finally another trucker came by saw me and used to break into cars for a living (repo man). Long story short he used my lockout kit and got it done in 30 min.

As far as the pay goes, I just started with swift not too long ago. Seemed to be going really well for me and I thought this was a great company, still do. But one of my friends that I'd gone to schooling with had gone with a leased owner op plan through them and by the end of 6 weeks that driver actually owed swift more money than they would give her. She ended up going to a rival and is doing well right now.

I just talked to a DCS driver, he delivers to chillis and jack in the box. He said he was going to make 67k this year. Don't know if that helps but FYI. Good luck.

 

I love the account I am on. I will be honest here, My last check grossed almost 1600, with less than 2000 miles driven. Hard to do but you gotta figure out how to make money where you are at.

 

Ive never heard of jb payin 32cpm..where do u guys pull these outta 1997? The bottom line is this if u wanna do otr dont do jb cuz its 7% of there biz model. Otr is run by corporate n jb hunt in this present day is all about intermodel and dcs( the good jobs). If u wanna be home everyday n have 2 days off in a row every week with a life have 3-6 months experience and u will make between 55-75k. I mean come on ppl is there anything to think about. I been with jb 4 years now on dcs in ny and made 58-63 every year and im not even trying..alot of guys over here are doin 70-75k. There is always another load a backhaul a trlr recovery opportunity to support another intermodel or dcs accnt nearby. Ive never heard of we have nothing or sit and wait here. I interact w my dm n dispatchers daily. They lay 3-5 loads in front of me and ask where i feel like goin today every day i walk in. Now let me tell u what there paying here!$5000 sign on bonus. $60 per day salary automatic(5 days=$300 week auto salary for showin up to work) .41cpm (250-450 miles per day or as much as u desire)$13.25 per stop (3-6 stops daily) detention $3.75 per 15 minutes after 1 hour. I average 45-55 hours per week. Excellent benefits under $50 week for me. Best 401k institutional vanguard funds. My average week with minimal effort is between 11-1300 per week gross. If u wanna use ur full 14 everyday n even work the optional 6th day u can easily hit $1600+ weekly. Until i become an o.op. i will never leave jb hunt same thing the other 170 drivers at my account r saying. Oh yeah n right now i get 2 weeks paid vacation n they fig out ur average hourly rate for 52 weeks n pay u that rate x 8 hours per vac day. My avg hourly rate is currently $29.76. 8x$29.76=$238.08 per vacation day which im currently using as we speak. Im earning $476 for sittin home for 2days. 5 paid holidaya @$160 per holiday. Oh and did i mention i dont touch no freight all i do is drive and watch customer unload (i actually help unload cuz i prefer to keep busy) but hey thats up to u. Alot of drivers r missing out big time cuz ppl who never even worked for jb or people who drove otr for them 20 years ago said this n that. Hey b your own n do whats best for u n if u dont like it put in a proper notice n leave! Show up to work with a good attitude n u will do good at jb. The trucks are all fueled up ready for me to go everyday. I just drive make money n sleep in my bed everynight! Dont paranoy urself out of a great job n chance to be with ur family! Just my opinion n if not no skin off my back just tryin to inform drivers who want a life w there families n make good money doin it. If u dont have 3-6 months experience yet suk it up til u do then get a nice local job..6 months is not a long time.

 

Plenty of JB's "dedicated loops" pay .32, pretty common actually.

Usually the home every weekend, or every few day runs.

Even the otr runs are 300 mile average, so the higher cpm don't make much difference.

I'm sure they have some gravy dedicated lanes/accounts - they all do. But if you don't get one of them you're SOL.

 

Maybe thats true.. I def dont know every accnt but i can tell u about ny nj ct and pa jobs but we drive nyc so maybe theres a premium over here. but i can tell u jb mileage pay whatever it is is just 1 piece of the income structure. In my case it makes up about 40% of my income. I can tell u also the toys r us account in nj pays a flat rate base of $225 per day but if u go above certain amount of miles or time u will get extra pay on top. Home depot accnt in pa if im not mistaken do similar pay structure n all c&s accounts pay structure is what i explained in earlier post. There most likely is some ded or intermodel accnt near u. My friend moved to jacksonville fl on h depot accnt and said hes doin around 55k. So every area will be different pay structure and avg earnings. But usually cost of living in ur area is figured in. If u live in an area with very cheap rent cheap gas cheap taxes n no state taxes no congestion than obviously u can stretch ur dollar out much more than us getting pounded in ny. So ur pay may reflect ur area and be more like 45-50k. Jb dont just pulls numbers out of hat n put on these job listings. They actually take an avg of the whole fleets earnings and put that figure or they will put a range. Otr says 49k to 71k n r payin up to .52cpm dep on exp outta ny. They may be payin .32cpm but it might be for less experience drivers n they will move up the ladder on per mile or its just bad area. I cant really speak on otr but it seems alot of ppl dont like it so id prolly steer clear. Jb is no longer an otr company like in the 90's and 93-95% of there jobs are local in nature so if u wanna go otr dont go to a non otr company like jb. Its an afterthought. Theres plenty of otr companies out there that will prolly b better. No company is perfect but stick to a companies strengths n u will do ok. Just my 2! Good luck

 

If I wasn't so far from the Portland, Oregon terminal I would be back there working! I made over $55,000 in 2006. I had the best driver manager/dispatch and I like to work, not sit at truck stops like the other guys and BS. I have worked with JB Hunt on and off since 2004 to 2010 both at Portland terminal and Stockton, California. I made good money and if I ever had a problem the terminal manager or my DM was on it.

 

The one thing that did suck working for jbh intermodal is when you had to search for empties. It can take you afew hours and 50miles to find one at times.

 

I actually cheated in that department. I knew hostlers at various customers cell phones and I would contact them before I even left my last place. I also liked to do the yard checks which helped me to know where the majority of our trailers were. Portland was definitely easier in finding empties than Stockton was.
