Really need help and advice.

LS trailers are on percentage, no work, no pay.

 

This is not bashing, so please try not to be offended by my comments here.

If you couldnt make it at Mercer,.. why do you think leasing on somewhere else will be any different? I seriously doubt trailer rental was the sole problem.

This is just my opinion and again,.. not meant to offend. Just my opinion here,.. but as an O/O you must understand the expenses and profit margin needed to maintain a sustainable income. Usually that means staying out and running back to back loads until you have enough 'income' to come back home. Whether that comes inside of 2 weeks or 8 weeks. You do what needs to be done.

I feel for you with trying to have quality family time. Ultimately you will need to make a choice. If you can not make the money you need in this business under the business model you are trying to maintain,. then you will either have to change your business model or find a different more feasible source of income. I walked away from trucking for 15 yrs to be with me family. Its difficult,. but like me,.. you will manage. My kids are all grown now so it made returning to trucking easier. Still not how I planned to spend these years,. but I understand and accept what I needed to do in order to survive and thrive.

Buy, rent, or lease your own trailer............then try Jones or Admiral Merchants.

 

Guy that parks his truck where I park mine at is leased through Jones. Constantly leaving business cards in my door trying to get me to sign with them. He seems pretty happy with them.

It's June bro. Do you care about your family enough to feed them this winter ? Roll the truck, run your ### off. Take your family time in January. If you don't like that, try plumbing, carpentry, mechanic, cook, etc....

 

I know just how you feel.

I have an older truck and I could barely afford that when I first started out. Even now with a little experience under my belt I'm still at a loss.

Often my wife and I come across other couples in beautiful newer trucks and they claim they only run 1 or 2 loads a week,.. usually not far from home and home 2 - 3 days a week.

My wife looks at me and asks why we dont do that? I respond that I would love to. And if she could find the loads that will cover our bills and expenses and still leave enough cash for retirement to show me how and where? I would happily do it.

I wont argue that some folks seem to really have it figured out and doing it easier than I am. I have not learned their secrets yet. All I know to do is to keep hustling and run hard. I have to pack away as much cash while my body is still healthy enough to do it.

Lots of people make it at Mercer with trailer and truck payments. I wish you well at the next company and I firmly believe your best chances of success are going to come down to how willing you are to look in the mirror and be honest with yourself. It was not the trailer payment that kept you from success.
