Wow I missed alot! My phone got destroyed a week ago and finally got one up and going. Thanks Tom and drozzer. Two of my best quality is drinking coffee and bs' ing lol. I have heard so many good things about wal-mart from this form and being on the road. Where I work now he treats me like family and it sounds like it will be the same there. The biggest reason im leaving where im at is because he doesn't and wont offer insurance and retirement. I love what I do and who I do it for but hey none of us are getting any younger. He was very bumbed when I told him I might be leaving but I think he understands. I told him the other day that I still have time to screw it up lol. Anyway keep the post coming I enjoy reading them.

Hi everyone. Been a while since I've been on here. My DH is coming up on his one year wait to reapply to WM but I've notice Smyrna hasn't had a opening listed for quite some time. Hope this changes by the end of the summer. DH is about at the end of his rope with the current job. I keep telling him to apply to Pottsville and after a year transfer to Smyrna but he's not sure about commuting 4 hours just to start driving for another 12 hours. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I just hate seeing him so miserable. He's still kicking himself for taking the truck out of gear at the stop sign on his road test....

He should apply as close as he can and then do the transfer. 4 hours is nothing compared to some drivers. Once hired on, he doesn't have to work an entire day since he has a long drive in. They will not force him to do something especially if he is tired. He can push his time out so he would not be dispatched for some time. That way he can take a nap to refresh. Good communication can help on these situations. If Smyrna does open up after he starts the process with Pottsville, he must start all over again for Smyrna. Either way, tell him to get his foot in the door. Everything can adjusted once he is hired.

Smyrna now has 130 on the books so no openings until someone drops. New policy out that if a driver is 250 plus miles they would have to arrive early and take a 10. I don't think Bedford is open but he should take whatever door opens and then transfer.

Thank you for the insight. It's something he will have to think about. When you say "take a 10" does that mean take a rest for 10 hours after arriving at the DC? That could sure add a lot of time to his work week and less time at home.

Correct on getting there earlier. It's also called delayed gratification. Deal with a slight hardship now to get what you want later. What's worse? He stays where he is and possibly becoming more miserable waiting for an opening or getting in and learning the system and having a higher chance of transferring when a position opens?

Good point! We have 3 DC closer than 250 miles so hopefully something opens up! Thanks again!
