no income tax either. Good living in Wyo... get south of the State Line into CO and the traffic and drivers are the worst, not getting better either. Watch it when they call for snow, an inch can cause chaos as it turns to ice... nothing like the east.

My Army buddy would say the same as he used to race in the desert there. Too hot in the summer for us. We like to be able to see the change of seasons too.

Wow, no kidding about the income tax...just wondering if they pull taxes from you in some other way. None the less, it seems like a great state to be.

yes property tax and sales tax... but most of the states income comes from taxes on energy, coal, oil, natural gas, uranium. The state also has a positive rainy day fund set aside, and runs a balanced or positive budget each year. That rainy day funds stands at 50% of the annual budget.

Cheyenne is located in Laramie county.

The median property tax in Laramie County, Wyoming is $1,115 per year for a home worth the median value of $169,900. Laramie County collects, on average, 0.66% of a property's assessed fair market value as property tax.

The Laramie County, Wyoming sales tax is 6.00% , consisting of 4.00% Wyoming state sales tax and 2.00% Laramie County local sales taxes. The local sales tax consists of a 2.00% county sales tax.

    • The Laramie County Sales Tax is collected by the merchant on all qualifying sales made within Laramie County
    • Groceries are exempt from the Laramie County and Wyoming state sales taxes
    • Laramie County collects a 2% local sales tax, the maximum local sales tax allowed under Wyoming law
    • Laramie County has a higher sales tax than 100% of Wyoming's other cities and counties

ABF from what I heard is hiring there. Great job, pension. Plus you'd live like a king with their pay and cheap cost of living there.

vehicle registration can be spendy on an annual basis... lots of older vehicles out here. No vehicle inspections either. State isn't fighting budget shortfalls like most either. Place isn't perfect and not for everybody, but I enjoy it immensely.

We are looking at building a home and the property tax is much better than here in Michigan. I pay a lot more than that median value home in WY for much less home value. Our economy and home market is horrible here and they keep trying to raise sales and other taxes. I'll be happy to make as much as I can off the sale of my home to just leave this state. I love my state of Michigan but I like the scenery and dry climate much better out there. My wife has asthma and the molds here are bad due to the humidity.
You are pretty well versed in what goes on in WY. Thanks again for the good info.

I don't find $200 a year spendy. And the older the vehicle, the less the fee.
