Opening it up and hooking the D rings to the crane always worked fine for me. Just make sure they take the hook as high as it can go before going over the freight so it doesn't get in a tug of war with a corner you thought you'd padded well enough.

conestoga..........

Spreader bar to hols the tarp out as the crane drapes it over. Easy peasy. Without crane assist I would cuss alot and use my ladder to get started on the rear and unravel the tarp. Insert some more cussing and a water break and eventually get it draped over. Much more time consuming with out the crane. And I bet they want it there first thing in the morning tomorrow 6 or 700 miles away.

Can you say, Dry Van??
Well, even still, i the tarps were folded in a good way, sure, crane over the top and then unfold them and they should drop to the sides of the trailer.
Or... Attach the driver the the crane by his belt. Let him hold on to the trap as they crane him over the top and he can pull the tarp over and unfold while in the air...
LOL....
And yes a conestoga would be perfect for the job.. -
And why would tarps ever be folded in anything other than a proper way? Tarps are like tire chains- you put them away properly and they're a breeze to use.

tsavory and saddlesore Thank this.

I agree. Fold them in such a way they are easy to deploy like a parachute. Oh wait. Maybe those people would not jump out of an airplane with a shute they packed.
Lol.. -

And if all else fails, unfold your tarp, hook one end to an overhead door. Raise the door. Back the trailer under it with 2 guys working the corners to prevent snags and to keep the trailer from running over the tarp. Did that once 5 or 6 years ago in North Carolina. Worked fairly well. Hillbilly as all hell. But I are one.
