Thanks. Too bad I'm not really rich though. Rich in spirit, right? BTW, it really did happen. There is way more to the story too but telling those parts would make the trainer personally identifiable, and that wouldn't be cool.

I do remember one amusing incident. We were in the truck at a T/A and he was droning on and on and on describing the exploites of The Undertaker, NWO, Triple H and Vince McMahon as if they were factual events in real people's lives. After politely listening to him for weeks, I finally broke. I muttered under my breath "Yeah right. It's all fake." I said under my breath. "What did you just say?" he asked. I told him "Wrestling. It's all fake. Everybody knows th..." He shot out of his bunk like his hair was on fire and demanded that I say it again. I got down and told him "Wrestling is f.. " B L A M! His fist slammed against the cabinet door next to my head with enough force to rock the whole cab while he screamed
    "Y O U C A N ' T F A K E R A S S L I N!"
With crazed bloodshot eyes and garbage breath he began to pant hard from the sudden burst of cardio and I thought he may be having a heart attact. I bit my lip to keep from laughing but felt sorry for him and went inside after some ice in case he racked up his knuckles.
It's funny. When I got back, he acted like he kicked my butt and taught me a well deserved lesson! I'm sure that's the story he told.

No matter how crappy I feel, this story always makes me laugh.

You should have done it! They would have immediately hired you on at Werner as a trainer, gave you a brand new shiny truck and 70K a year. Heck, you probably would have been Vice President of Operations by now, come on.

I'm sorry , I just can't feel sorry for anyone who would go to Werner , JB , Swift , England , or even Celadon. These companies have a never ending history of bad , bad , bad and more bad. In my 2.5 decades I could name a few more , that have real bad people in high places that ruin the company , but there are a few good people working there , so I won't throw the company under a bus just those I told , don't ever cross me in a dark alley. Mainly a safety rep for Koch in Mn. I spent 90 days with Shaffer/Crete and although I knew how to do my job the Q-Com never rested even a 3a.m. I left quickly as I hired in biding time until the Company I'm with now called me and they did. If you read and research the good the bad and the ugly of the above mentioned Companies and still go then you get to stew in your own ignorance like most others. Some folks fit right in with these outfits , and personally imo it's those who have low self esteem , and take very little pride in themselves.
There's a small % in this industry that do it the old fashioned way. And the trail of pee jugs on almost every exit ramp that trucks park on regularly along the interstate system is pretty solid proof of that .
I'm appalled at what this unskilled trade has become over the years. Pee jugs can be emptied in the grass and the bottle thrown in any trash can. But don't tell 86 out of a 100 truckers that cause they might just throw theirs at ya. I went to Celadon and the 185 miles drive there was a skeptical one. The 2nd day 1st thing I got up and walked never turned to answer the 22 yr old snobby young lady trying to tell us she's there to bust us cheating on the logs and we all do it. She barely knew how to insert her tampax and is put in a position she has no right being in. CPM was changed early 2nd day and that was all I needed. Got my imbursement check from them for the expense back home and away I went. you can come to the truckerreport and research for days and even weeks to make an educated decision regarding your future in trucking. Yet people still go to these horrible start up companies that look to ruin you fast enough that you have no chance anywhere else almost forcing you to stay where you don't want to be. Stay away from them ... or don't it's up to you. Here a thought , apply for a higher education loan from your state , research a reputable driving school ... NOT a start up company and if you have a good past with a decent work history or just received an honorable discharge from the service , there are driver placement companies out there that can and will start you off in a spotter job , or a local type low mile jobs until you get a couple years all seasons.
The horrible start up companies been known to notoriously ruin people before they ever get their feet on the gound , and it's quite often you're sitting in some rancid fleabag motel waiting for weeks for a trainer. It's all here on the truckerreport read !!!
