Goin home?

Think that your DM is a little wrong there. As soon as you come off home time and under your load you can put in a home request for as little as 12 days in the future or more. The five days comes in to play like lets say that you have been out 11 days and you want home in 5 days then you can put your home time request in on that day for 5 days in the future. You have to give them at least 5 days. I do it that way quite a lot. Like if all of a sudden I am up north and want back south, I will through in a home request for 5 days in the future with a southern zip code.

 

My guess? People who beat up on Swift but never worked there.

You can put in your request to be home as soon as you leave, but you cant make it for anything sooner than 12 days. Well, you can, but they wont necessarily get you home.

I don't work at swift, so maybe my opinion is meaningless but here it is:

The "weekend" is when all the government and bank employees who work in offices are at home. My weekend is whenever I am not working.

I sometimes need to be on my weekend while the bank employees abs government officials are standing at their wickets. As such, we can't always have the same days off or nothing gets done.

Saturday and Sunday are 2 days where you can sail through cities with little traffic, drop and hook all your loads because the warehouse people aren't there and run longer, easier miles because customers aren't open. You can park at just about any truck stop and take a shower at 7pm without waiting 45 mins. No line ups for fuel, either. Most of the DOT scales are closed.

The best paying loads move on the weekend with fewer stops in between.

I've been out here for long enough to know, if i have to be in one place by Friday (home) they are working by Monday to make ur happen. I might not get much mileAge that week because they know I want to have supper at my house Friday.

I'd rather be flexible and make more money and take my days off as they come. And the company appreciates it and keeps us running.
