Leece Neville is a great alternator. You can usually find someone that will rebuild those for $150-$200.

Some of the prices people have stated on this tread are unbelievable, $2000 dollars to change an alternator!!!!!!! You have got to be ####ting me!!!!!

You need to find a mechanic over in PA, or Upstate NY. The numbers and scenario you describe are from certifiable criminals. I hear nothing but bad news about those ISX Cummins Engines.

the average o/o does not repair his truck at dealers. there are always good shops around who can repair for half of dealer cost. plus if you want to survive with newer emission trucks you need to have your own copy of Cummins or DD diagnostic software in the truck. its not hard to run it and diagnose the problems. these softwares also tell you and show you what to change on the truck.

I always told them I am going to be watching what you do to my truck. If they start this crap about you can't go out there, I tell them I'll just find somewhere else to go. Of course i always tried to use the same shops over and over if they had good service.

I wont say fraud, this is a common practice in any truck shop.it may take the mechanic 10 actual hours to do the job but he uses the bathroom talks about yesterday game and his girlfreind trouble, waste an hour looking for a part or a wrench, quick cigarette break etc etc by the time he punches that time card the 10hr job turned to a 20hr job.
