I beg to differ. That may be true with some (majority) companies, but not all.

I might get asked to do something that "looks" illegal. But it becomes legal, with a simple phone call or a QC call. Thankfully.

I may even drive illegal. But, not at any request given to me by my company.

But I'm not parking my truck for a 10 break, 5 miles from my house.

And since I don't see trucks parked all down the shoulder of EVERY interstate. I must conclude the majority of drivers agree, parking the thing with or without hours. Is safer than sitting in the middle of the road, using "no hours" as a defense. And don't use the "proper trip planning" excuse. because that's what it is, an excuse. Nobody "plans" a 5 hour sit in traffic in their 8th hour of driving,....nobody !!!!

ANY non-union driver that tells you he runs 100% all the time is lying. Period. Give me one week, and I can show you the "legalities" of your driving. And it's failings.

15 yrs ago?? The new HOS rules have not been in place that long. I agree with the possible results of the new HOS.

I run legal, I'm required by the company I'm leased to too match my logs to my QC, and I still average 3000 mpw.

And I do not know of any two safety depts. that agree 100% on filling out a log sheet and the interpretations of the HOS rules anyway.

I have shut down within 50 miles of home. I could have driven in, I was tired and so I decided to stop. Brought the truck to the yard the next day and my safety guy was not happy with me staying out the extra night. Got to really wonder sometimes.

actually I think it was proposed changes back then .......but they are always talking about changing the rules for trucks in some form or fashion in the interest of safety..........the whole point is that the American public thinks its great if the gov all but stops truck traffic ..........there are many that would love to see us go back to rail freight............(wonder what rail yard that car of hot freight will get lost in).....and as long as the people keep complaining to the gov officials then we will always have troubles.......EVEN if every truck did run 100% legal mainly because people hate trucks. And its bad enough that truckers have to battle the American consumers, who want their products on the shelf in a timely fashion, without batteling each other.

Yes I understand but then again if all drivers would run legal there would probably be a load waiting for you when you finsihed that load. Meaning you would stay busy/legally. Because the driving running 34 hours straight didn't just come snag it from you while you was taking your 10 hour break.

Remember legal is what you need to run! I guess lets put it like this.

My paycheck was 400.00 short one week (my bad, debt oopps they garnish my wages) I was already broke with the 400.00 I thought I had. Wow what did that do to me, hmmm I wanted to rob a bank because economy sucks so bad and now they want to take money I need (all over originally a $40.00 bill).

Now is it ok for me to rob a bank and risk my job for life because of the bill collector, no! Would it be worth it (well maybe, if i got away with it:biggrin_25525:) But over all I think no it's not worth it because my LUCK I would get busted!

I just want you to know what riska you are taking and just how would u feel if it was you that just killed 7 kids? Do you want that over your head the rest of your life. NOt to mention in prison and lose your licences for life :biggrin_2553:
So just some thoughts to think about, that's all!

Now I see Notarps wrote to this let me see what he has to say:biggrin_2554:
