I do my job just fine and I totally understand. I would love to go on the road trust me! Anything to get the hell away from here l.o.l.! But I don't believe I need to be there to know what you go through. I hear what you go through and I listen and I understand.
However it's your life you are putting at risk and others life you are putting at risk!

I guess my first response is about all I can say. I was really hoping you all would let this hit home and understand that running illegal might catch up with you one day and I guess it's like your friend who is doing drugs you want to help before they hit bottom. That's all now folks:biggrin_2559:

    LawDawg Thanks this.

And I feel you guys need to work in logs to understand what we go through every day!

Now every driver we did have in logs working light duty they had a different aspect of our job:yes2557:

I fully agree with that comment to!

It's sad, don't know why except lack of experience on most or mis interpitation or driver mis understanding the auditors teaching.

All the above are reason why! Some are just because they don't want to take the time to explain everything in detail.

I try to explain it all even if you don't want to hear it :). It helps you to know what your options are!

Now that I replied to everyone!

I was really hoping for some discussion on the story. Not how you are going to continue to run illegal:biggrin_2557::biggrin_25521:
I just hope everyone of you know what you are doing and I hope the best for you! That's all!

Thanks for the replies as I am sure this story will be tucked away and forgotten as the driver sitting in prison has been now:biggrin_2557:

I wish he could come here and talk to you all! Maybe one day he can! Some prisons do have computer lab time :biggrin_25521:

    Good luck!

Well, what truly happens out here and the comments companies actually make outside of safety is the reason I strongly feel the way I do about office people and their driving history.

I have done your job as well as the safety department during a time I was off the road. I do know the problems from both sides.

Because I have been doing it 20 years almost 21 years. NOthing but logs!
I can say something to a DOT officer and he will shake his head yes that's correct. Now do I have things that stump me, yes. LIke Jury duty, however I was correct in using my common sense to answer it but I fully let everyone aware I am not sure I am right just my hypethitcal guess.

I don't portray myself to know everything. I only know what I teach!
I read, I study, I ask questions when needed.

I have trained many people out there and taught many drivers many things they was not aware of.
It's all a lack of someone wanting to take the extra step to say hey did you know

The 10 hour break for example

YOu can do it one of three ways!

    10 hours off duty
    10 hours in the sleeper
    10 hours between lines 1 & 2 as long as it's 10 hours consecutive.

Now how many drivers today think you MUST spend 8 hours of your 10 hour consecutive break in the sleeper? Well answer? l.o.l.
about 50% probably. Why do you think that! I can tell you why!

Because the new regulations changed 10/2005. when the regulations changed they was discussing only the change and that was split breaking. So when they was talking on the radio etc they was talking about the 10 hour break needs to be # least 2 hours off duty & 8 hours in the sleeper. That is the split breaking regulation. 8 hours must be in the sleeper & the 2 hour break can be off duty. How do I know that, because I ask drivers why they think this and some tell me the radio and some tell me such and such company told me that.

Then many auditors find it just as easy to say take a 10 hour break, making you feel you must take 10 hours in the sleeper. It's EXTRA work to say what I did above, right! :yes2557:

That's why because I don't mind the extra step to teach a driver and I take pride in my job in learning what I can about logs or I would not be here teaching on my time off!

How many drivers think their total driving time for their day can only be a total of 11 hours of line 3 time? Did anyone teach you that isn't true?

How many drivers think that you can't be on line 4 passed your 14th hour?

I can back all my information up, that's what makes me far more superior.
I am good enough that my boss choses to take me wherever he goes which is why I have been doing this for 21 years! :yes2557:
