DRIVE&THINK for myself? I don't think I could handle that kind of high pressure multi-tasking.:biggrin_25512:

40 cents to start is a big pay cut for me. 50k is all you make running 4k miles a week? To each his own I guess. Why you recruiting for your company?

I'm making a bit more than .40 a mile. I also make a bit more than 50K per year. And recruiting? I don't get a bonus for "recruiting".

The difference in pay between the two isn't much after Uncle Sam gets his cut of that 3300 miles at 42 cents. Combine that with not getting 3300 every week (this is trucking) and it evens out. I'll take 2300 at 50 cents, make the same money, run fewer miles, get more sleep, feel a lot better, and be able to save a lot more because I'm not married. ;)

Right now I get $0.41 a mile and miles are anywhere from 1800 to 2100 to 2900 a week. A lot of fluctuation. I do more sitting than I care for. Health insurance just for myself is $83 a week. Lots of east coast and Midwest, lots of short runs. Unloaded last night right outside of Los Angeles, still don't know what I'm doing next and it's 6pm. 2157 miles on next Friday's check. 2937 on today's check. Not horrible by any stretch, but not as good as I need it to be.
