Bro, the easiest thing I use to teach about shifting during turns is, DON'T. Make your turn and once you start straightening out, then go ahead and shift. DON'T SHIFT while you are making the TURN. After a few months or so, it will come.

    What'd you expect? They ARE Anthony's. :p

And yes, to reiterate what Pacific Islander said, right now don't focus on shifting during your turns. At some point it will come to you.

I dunno- I've heard that "don't shift in turns" thing before, even tried it myself.. Found it totally impractical.. Every turn is different, and some are downright HAIRY!! Better be prepared for everything when turning, and having to shift is gonna prove to be a pretty minor issue to deal with

I think the schools teach it so the students can concentrate on the turns. But I do also know that here in my state at least, shift while making a turn, the student fails the road test.

insane yes, but it is what it is.

I'm a little surprised... In my school they said don't do it. At all. Sni said don't do it in their training...

Truth is you're better off being prepared prior to going into a turn so you can focus easier. But if you want to get through a fast intersection then leaving it in the lower gears doesn't cut it. Not to mention it's easy to round some of these curves and note that traffic is at a standstill just at the opposite side...

You're right. In Ga you'll fail the exam if you shift during a turn. When I asked my trainer at sni about it (he was shifting in the turns and didn't realize it.) he stated that it was to ensure that you were focused on not hitting anything or wouldn't stall out or miss a gear.

Nah. I was going to wait until page 5 came around before I started talking about shifting this conversation so it's turn into something else.
