I rather someone tinkle my rear and call me sally than do ports!, rails are better they are open 24/7, in and out can be done in less than 1 hour, and the pay difference is not that much about 20 dollars.
Is it possible to make good money hauling containers (intermodal)?

Well all of those crap trucks should be going away as of July 15. NY/NJ will be cracking down and if the truck isn't in compliance it won't be allowed in the pier

That's 2018 if they don't have the light blue sticker they won't be allow to operate from the port of the truck is 10 years or older

Can you make money, yes, is it hard on the trucks, no harder than hauling regular freight. It's more a question of how well do you take care of your truck.

I love the fact that I can wake up at 3am and start driving by 4 by the time normal people are waking up im already almost done with my first load or heading to my second one, for example today I ran 2 jersey city,nj to mt. poconos,pa and a drop and hook from north Bergen to Dayton,nj and back all under 12 hours that's about 880 in gross after fuel and tolls leave me with about 500 profit... I love those loads!
