So I've been reading a lot on the choice program and looked up the financing through Schneider. Their sample profit plan scares me a bit. If they meant this to be a selling point they really need to work on it. $.36 per mile net profit according to their sample is enough to make me forget about the choice plan all together.

And then their new vs used cost analysis. Do they really expect a 2012 Cascadia to be in the shop three days out of every week? WTF?

I was scared too buddy, unless I saw other drivers pay and some rates on the board there was no way I'd pull the trigger. Schneider sucks as far as putting out info. Supposedly they're creating a new O/O site, hopefully it'll be better than all that trash they currently have out.
Go through all these Schneider threads and you'll see the actual real world money we're making which is a lot more than $.36 loldrvrtech77 and mxpx148 Thank this. -

When I'm lazy I can still clear $2000 after expenses working a full week.
Schneider does lowball you, they did with me also.
Which I think is a good thing because most companies BS you saying how much money you'll make.
Here if someone is taking cheap freight and going home every weekend then yeah $800 sounds about right or could be even worse.
Everything depends on you, how you run, plan and how much crap you're willing to put up with.
Generally I know the more BS I put up with the more money I'll make. -
A lot of new l/o's don't make it through the first 6 months. I've run into a few that can't even make the truck payment and are using their savings just to eat.trucker91 and Hegemeister Thank this. -
Coming from a noob, lol, what makes it difficult in this program? From reading posts it seems like after getting into it, experience of good running lanes, proper business plan on withholding taxes and common sense seem like the three biggest factors. Outside of unforeseen events(breakdowns, sickness, acts of God etc), what am I missing? Are there weeks that there is just nothing good on the board that pays enough to keep you profitable?

Well they are doing something terribly wrong.
Some people think this is a game and oh "I'm just gonna do fun loads" and will deadhead endlessly to pick out a load that's light, drop and hook and going 1000+ miles not caring what it pays. Then go deadhead hundreds of miles home for the weekend because they want to.
You gotta do lots of dumb things like that to fail here.drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
Yep^^ i talked to a few guys that are wanting to turn the truck in... The whole dispatching yourself is harder than it may sound. SNI doesn't help alot, and they deffenltly aren't easy to get ahold of. So if planning/dispatching isn't your thing... Then SNI choice isn't either. Some get it... Alot don't

Some things to learn are
-Trip planning
-Markets
-where the good shippers are
-what a good rate per load is
-when to book and when not to book.. aka getting the rate you know you can get
-in winter time weather is important because ice storms means you're not moving
the factors are endless but as long as you put in the time and are willing to learn it's no big deal.
