I see you're in Champaign, IL. I've hauled many, many loads out of Kraft plant there, back in the good old reefer days.

Listen when I was 22 I killed a person in a car no drinking etc...just young and dumb. I did time. I was in the Army when it happened I was home on leave. My commanding officer kept me and I finished my time got an honorable discharge, got out became a boat Captain with TWIC and after a long career I went into trucking a year ago...no issues...grant it its been over 2 decades....if your a stand up guy in an interview you will get a chance...dont give up.

    Be Safe Out There

The man that trained me to drive had a VERY serious felony on his record,he trained me in 1989. He was a great person (RIP Cheyenne). When we got a load to Canada he loved to remind dispatch he couldn't take it all the way because he was a felon, we hated going there in those days anyway. We later teamed during desert storm to haul placard loads for the war conflict. Some of those loads were even escorted.
He took his second chance and became very productive in life and was very involved in the trucking industry. I say call company's and go for it. Use your second chance to be productive and change your life. If one company hangs up call another.

Yes, I know, I read the link I had provided further down the postings. I just wish I can remember where I had heard that once a CDL permit is issued, NO expungement can take place. And it certainly was not form a truckers board website, may have been the lawyers that write the column for the OOIDA magazine, but still not sure. It had to have been some sort of legal website.

It's seriously pathetic how ignorantly judgmental some of you people are. People screw up in life. many people grow up after the fact. We're not taking about a child molester or a murderer here. I've been arrested and charged with pages worth of crap, I've had my license pulled 8 times for a long list of issues. Defaulted on more court crap than I can count. I was young, stupid and could have cared less about almost anything those days.

    I GREW UP!!!!

I've (obviously) got my Class A, and a good job. I've got +5 points on my license (best you can have on the VA system) my record is old now, most things removed or so old nobody cares anymore. I have no issues with background checks, have my HME, have TWIC, own guns and a concealed carry permit. So it would seem I'm trusted at this point by both the state and the feds. I don't steal from anybody and have a family and a mortgage to worry about.

    PEOPLE CHANGE!

The people who don't change are the ones looking for shady ways to make money, not the ones who are looking for advise here on going to school or trying to straighten themselves out to be judged by a bunch of idiots who don't know a friggen thing about them. It's funny because I've always found the people who go out of there way to publicly judge people and rip them down for no reason are usually the ones with the most to hide.

Just don't lie on a job application or try to hide your past..good luck to you.

PS. My cousin fell into the drug world, robbed a Subway for money. Did his time and got out early but had to live in a halfway house and required to get a job. Started as a dishwasher, moved up thru buss boy, food runner to waiter.
After 2 yrs he is making more money from tips than he ever stole. All he has to do is smile, treat people nice, give customers what they want and make them happy. Enjoys two great meals a day, and the place furnishes. Him fresh shirts. He would never have guessed he would have a successful future.
Not a truckstop where drivers tip a dollar. Lol

Sounds like a tale that would be told in a truck stop lounge. I think I remember hearing a story like that once at the buffet.

No, I do not hang around the truck stop counter, and usually I always find a table as far away as possible from other drivers, and never spent any time in the driver's lounge, sitting on crud caked infested lounge chairs.as well.

I'll keep trying to find that, I still think it was a legal website regarding all issues related to CDL.

(right now, I am only coming up with license issues due to age, not felonies. in the end, that could have been what I was thinking about). But i'll keep searching.
