So I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced the new cdl standard test that they just started in New Jersey? From what our class heard it is much more involved and the state is expecting a 90% fail rate!!!!
They just started it this week and we had a recruiter from Werner come in and tell us that in 4 days of testing the state only had 2 people pass! He also said that some of the major company's are going to the state to complain about the new standards. My instructor says that the feds told New Jersey to bring the standards up or the funding would be cut, and New Jersey brought they way up out of spite. The state never told the cdl schools what the new standards are so they don't even know what to teach! I am testing on Wed. and am a little nervous, but I am studying my brains out. Well let me know if anyone has some helpful info!!!! TY John![]()

well I was also going to ask, what are the "new standards"
oh well, you let us know, when you know. -
the new standards are you have to blind side back and parallel park.. Big deal?!! you'll be fine.. You should be able to do both anyway.. Oh, and you have to check under the hood on your pre-trip
bstrong3 Thanks this. -
Guess what would happen if regular drivers license had that type of fail rate..
-
Good luck. I bet you do just fine.
superhill56 and bstrong3 Thank this. -
I heard it was a 90 ally dock, offset left and right, and parallel left and right. And they want us to know and mention everything under the hood. I have been studying the under the hood stuff, oh and the road test is supposedly about 18 miles long, don't know how true this is as it comes through the grapevine.

If you can't pass then you have no business being on the road
-
Thank you. That was very helpful.superhill56 and tlalokay Thank this.

the payoff's at the DMV's would skyrocket.

They took out alley docking totally as well as the serpentine first of the year and put in parallel instead. There were 4 of us that took it seriously and practiced every chance we got. Out of 15 only us 4 got our CDL. Practice as much as you can and remember you are paying for a career not just a CDL.
bstrong3 Thanks this.
