Now that my shift is over and I have time......

It's refreshing when guys like @'olhand say this kind of stuff. With all the years he's put into this business, it's good to see he hasn't lost perspective on why we're all out here.

When my wife and I were researching trucking, one thing we kept hearing over and over again from drivers was that this is a "lifestyle" and not a job and that we shouldn't expect to make good money doing it. Now that we've been doing this for a while we've come to realize those guys are the loudest voices in the room but not the wisest. Remembering the good times is nice but nostalgia wont pay the bills for the "lifestyle". Too many drivers would rather have "freedom" than an amazing paycheck that improves the quality of life for themselves and their family.

I want to end this with a good chuckle. A buddy of mine who used to work for US Xpress and left to work for Crete got a call from a USX "Driver Liason" trying to get him to return. The pitch the guy made is terrible but more importanly my buddy thought it was me calling playing a prank on him. I downloaded a voice app and fake caller id app before this all happened and pranked him a few times. Had him convinced that I was the Crete Safety lady and he had run over someone, falsified his logs, etc. So when he got a call from Mr. Wallave Beard.....hillarity ensued.
