LifeSucksThenYouDie and Erick Evans Thank this.

I did state that I was an o/o in a previous post. I do know what I'm doing. I was the transportation manager for the Hostess/Wonder Bread Bakery in St. Louis with over 40 truck drivers working for me before their bankruptcy. I appreciate some people at least reading my previous posts before condemning me. I will make this work. You all have a good night.

Also, if you are not open to both good and bad criticism, DON'T POST IN A OPEN FORUM. -
rachi, icsheeple and LifeSucksThenYouDie Thank this.

Oh ####, I apologize then. But I still stick by this statement:

I come read posts like this and I follow a few other ones like FW's thread. All I've done is either pull a flatbed or haul livestock. I'll admit I'm pretty ignorant of other segments of the industry, which is why I enjoy following other threads.
When I pulled flatbed I was running 8 axle heavy haul in the northwest, so even my flatbed experience is limited to one area of the industry.
That being said, I understand the concerns that are being voiced about flooding Schneider's IC program. Back when housing was going gangbusters everybody was getting into the maxi flats, even Watkins Shepherd had a maxi fleet at one time. But naturally the market takes care of those that are ill prepared to weather a down turn for one reason or another. Even in livestock we see it to some extent, and some make it and some don't.
It could seem like the IC program is having an influx right now, but from the outside looking in wouldn't it make more sense for them to expand the IC program and cut back on the company trucks? Less overhead and less capital investment if they're not purchasing as many company trucks.
I'm rambling and thinking out loud at this point. I guess if it were me and I had a good solid business plan I wouldn't be too worried. The market will take care of the ill prepared. To the OP... Best of luck to you. It sounds like you have a solid plan, have done your homework, and know what direction you want to go.LifeSucksThenYouDie Thanks this. -
I don't mind criticism of something I've done. Someone got on here and made a statement about the state of our economy and when I gave a different opinion it was insinuated that his opinion mattered and mine didn't.

Fact of the matter is Schneider isn't bulletproof. Look at the oil fields per say or any other "hot segment of trucking" Everybody wants in when it's good, when it's bad they all turn to TTR and bash their company and look for somewhere to work because they didn't have a backup plan and thought a good thing would last forever. (This is trucking.)
My point of posting is Schneider might get too big for itself, and with everyone hopping on the bandwagon, it is only a matter of time (maybe weeks, months, or even years) that the Schneider bashing will start.LifeSucksThenYouDie Thanks this. -
I have no problem with any of that. As I previously stated I was in the automobile Transportation business when that market crashed.
