UPS double gross income?

Any class A job will pay well, the can't hire ground up b/c the other delivery drivers etc. do not require CDL's

 

I've just applied at the Bloomington and Fontana, ca faculties as a road driver but its hard to tell if it's UPS or UPS FREIGHT I know the pay scales are different any info would be a big help...

 

UPS... The Holy Grail of Trucking. From what I've heard, almost 100% of the time is hired from within to become drivers. But there have been some to slip in. When you apply for a position, the description should say UPS Freight if it's for freight and won't say anything if it's for UPS brown. All UPS Brown jobs I've seen posted are seasonal temporary jobs

Not true. I don't know of any OTR company that pays well. and UPS almost always hires from within.

 

OK let me rephrase.......UPS requires no CDL at all to work from delivery down and they hire mostly from the outside UNLESS an employee has one already. I have friends that drive day cabs for them that all came from elsewhere however they do work for UPS now. Understand?

 

I'm a feeder driver in Colorado. Feeder jobs are bid to inside full-time drivers first. Yes, package drivers don't need a CDL, so if they bid into feeders UPS will send them to school to get their CDL. That's what I did. Bid a feeder job and UPS trained and paid for my CDL. Here in Colorado UPS trains its own drivers. Some other areas of the country will send them to a school, but most of it is done in house. Training is 3 weeks long usually done one on one. Lots of book work for the first 3 days then driving. Most days are 12 hours or more plus a couple of hours of studying in the evening. It's designed to be very stressful and 50% of the drivers wash out. Most just drop on request, the rest the company will wash out if they don't think you can handle it. Last week is your production week and you will cover a bid run with a supervisor. Normally cover for someone on vacation.

If you have a CDL school is 2 weeks long. One week of training and one week of production. You will learn the UPS way and will do it the UPS way or out the door you will go.

80% of the feeder drivers in my area are inside guys. About 20% are off the street. Getting hired off the street isn't easy, but it's not impossible. Just timing.

Starting pay is around $18 an hour OT after 8 hours. 4 year progression and top pay is about $33 and hour. Full scale feeder drivers will make $85k to $130K. Most make right around $100k a year. Plus full benefits, retirement, etc

Gross about $2000 a week. I work 52 to 55 hours a week. Pretty average for a feeder driver.

 

I would say he works 10-11 hours per day since he said he averages 52-55 hours per week. I don't believe feeder drivers work weekends, unless it's peak season.

A feeder driver is the guy who pulls double or single trailers, mainly terminal to terminal. Best trucking job you'll ever have IF you can get full time. I've worked their peak season for a few years on a part time basis and it's easy work.

 

Got my CDL(double,hazmat,tanker) from local college mid-Sept15, interview with UPS for "Seasonal Package Delivery Driver" tomorrow 24th Sept, hope it will convert into perminent within 6mos.....is it achievable? input anyone?.
