Ok, so yes it was my fault that I did not tarp the load. It did not get wet, but the recivor is taking $500 off of a $700 shipment and the broker is going along with it. It hardly seems like a fair price to me, and I will pay a price for not tarping the load, so does anyone have any ideas for how I can collect on this?

well the broker or shipper would go along if the receiver threatened to pull all loads from shipper going to his business. so you may be made example of. some people want tarped cause of rain, some do not want road debri, oil, bugs, e.t.c. some need to be clean as when it was loaded.

I'm not going to tarp the load next time, I'm going to quit. This business is for the birds, and I ask if anyone has any ideas how to collect on it and all I get is dumb answers

Lucky the load was not refused.

I have had to tarp loads that did not need to be tarped in my opinion. Warehouse racks as a good example. Steal ingots, plates and a few other things I saw to reason,.. but did as the requested because thats what I was paid and asked to do.

I agree with your sentiment,.. but I can not see where you have a case for argument. Chalk it up to lesson learned and move on.

CK. the B.O.Lading for any thing in writing that says load must be tarp, then look at broker cont. to see if fine for not tarping load is in there somewhere, they may be trying to get your $ for nothing.
