Well his truck jack-knifed; turned completely 'round
He was coming down backwards 'bout the speed of sound
A lot of folks seen him and they all say
He had his head out the window yelling "Clear the way!"woodynva, Arkansas, Vilhiem and 1 other person Thank this. -
to say he was jacked up on cat nip, is an understatement...
we did eventually find nearly all the old cat nip mice.Vilhiem Thanks this. -
Once years ago between Barstow and Needles I was easing down a large steep hill side. Them a Yellow Truck came flying by me at a high sped.
I asked him on my CB, “I did not know any Yellow Trucks could go so fast.” He answered me saying, “I’ve got it in Georgia Overdrive.” That is he had it out of gear letting coast down that steep hill as fast as it would go.
I had a set of boxes in my truck, I let my truck pick up sped and finally I had just place my truck in overdrive catching up with him. I was going at 1700 RPM in overdrive and he was going 98 MPH down that very steep hill with his truck out of gear.
That's what Georgia Overdrive is, and when anyone will do that, they may just lose complete control of their truck coming to the end of their life.
Just a very short few weeks before that a hometown truck driver friend of mine was going down that very same steep hill side at nighttime went off of the side of that hill side, totaled out the truck he was driving, yet fortunately he lived though it even though he was in a hospital for many weeks, yet many do not survive as he did.Straight Stacks, MACK E-6 and Vilhiem Thank this. -
Yeah, you have to know what you are doing.
-
Well, if you're in a company truck you can't even get away with it anymore with all the sensors telling on you all the time!!!!
-
They may not teaching it in school, but it is mentioned in the CDL book. There is a section about coasting in neutral.
-
Outlaws can still use "Georgia Over". And that's another thing. I didn't think they had that big of hills in Georgia. Pennsylvania Overdrive, or Colorado Overdrive, maybe, but Georgia?
Straight Stacks and Mr.X Thank this. -
Volvo has a version of that programmed into the I shift transmission, lol.
Mr.X Thanks this.
