Honestly man whether or not sift is a good company for you, is up to YOU. If you can put up with the big business BS, slackers and liars who Will tell you what you wanna hear so you'll leave them alone, and driver facing cams, then you might be ok. If you run hard and don't #### up a lot then the planners will keep you rolling. If you get a good driver manager then you'll be set. I have seen the difference in a good and bad manager it's absolutely stupid. Don't let someone else bad experience make up your mind.

There were a lot of things about swift that I knew I wouldn't like before I got hired in, the biggest one being the big business BS. I can not stand to watch someone ride the clock and not do ####. I'm the kinda guy that believes you get paid to do your job, do your freaking job. Swift is a HUGE company and has A LOT of those people. However there are ways that you can get away from some of the common swift issues, like going dedicated for example, transferring to another DM if you have a bad one, etc.

If you have ANY questions about swift I'd be happy to answer them honestly and sincerely. And I wish the best of luck to you in your future career in trucking. It is truly a one of a kind job and I haven't regretted getting my license yet. Having your cdl really opens up the world to you.

I thought really hard about us xpress but when I went to swift I was just shy of 3 months otr and us xpress was gonna make me do 175 hours with a trainer and 8 weeks team. Having about 30,000 solo miles flatbedding I didn't want or need 175 hrs with a trainer and I am not willing to run teams. So I went with swift. I might look into us xpress' wal mart account around the end of the year though.

If you wanna be a flatbedder then Melton is supposed to be a good company. I have talked to several melton drivers and they all had nothing but good things to say about them. I don't think that you can get your cdl through them though you would have to get it prior to being hired with them. TMC is a starter company too but I have heard good and bad from them so I won't advise either way with them. I don't know anything about prime except I keep hearing they have a good lease program. Schnieder is supposed to be a family oriented company, and from what I understand they have a lot of opportunities like swift. I.e. dedicated, regional, local, otr, they also have tanks.

As a new trucker myself (about 7 months under my belt now) the best advice I can give you right now is, do your homework on the companies out there, put in the time and effort to find out everything you can about your candidates, and whoevers truck you get in, STAY with them for 1 year. After 6 months to a year the jobs open up like crazy. Before that first 6 months changing jobs is not so easy

Thank you for your reply well for me its going to be Swift or prime but I am leaning towards Swift because they have a terminal next were i live California. So for time home are you allowed to save up home time? I was thinking that if i could just be on the road for six months or so and take off for 3 weeks but not sure if Swift would let me off for that long. I hear prime inc only lets you take 3-4 days off max. How many miles a week do you get? I have been reading on the forms that some of the Swift guys get like 3,000 to 3,500 miles a week. Does Swift give drivers a bonus to recruit drivers for them? Also by any chance does Swift have a terminal next to Las Vegas?

Actually I have.... Lots of good to great choices for new guys and I am seeing lots of great gals now driving.
Also I heard that YRC has a starter driver program too. Maybe one of our YRC driver members has more info on that..

One of the good things I hear that Henderson trucking is that the CDL class they have is very small so lots of time is spend on each student vs Swift were they have 50 Students per class. There is one thing that I read up is with them you can't get your CDL permit before going there not sure if thats true or not because Illinois makes you get it there.
