is this a dry van or reefer company, and do they run west?
-
cancel that, just looked it up. sounds like a great company, but I live in Arizona, they only hire in the midwest.

Well due to this site and forum I have managed to get a position with Transport America.
Having been driving in europe for a few years my wife and I decided to return to the US, then I spent the next 2 years doing the old house up, I have enjoyed this site and the people that post on it, having no work history I phoned TA up and told them my problem, after a couple of days they phoned back and I am down to arrive for training on the 30th June.
I do hope you guys that are already there continue to give the updates as and when you can. Many Thanks -
How are the miles with Transport America?
-
The miles are pretty good ..... just so long as:
1. You don't turn down loads
2. You keep dispatch abreast of your available hrs (macro 21 every day)
3. You get your loads there on time
4. You transflo your trips in a timely fashion.
I've averaged around 3000 mi a week every week I've stayed out(well April might have ave 2700). Naturally going home will run your average down. I never turn down loads that I have hrs to do regardless of the destination, length of trip or time of day it has to be run. I'm sort of a trooper. Those who are more picky, don't follow procedure or insist on going home more often tend to get less. Even if going home every weekend for a restart you should get at least 2300-2600. -

So I imagine that hometime every other week wouldn't be a problem? Can you bring the truck home? After my move to upstate PA, i'll be inbetween I80, I81 and I90.

If you live further than 75 miles from your home terminal (sounds like it) and have a secure place to park the tractor they probably will let you do it.
The two closest terminals would be Mechanicsburg, PA (my home domicile) or North Jackson, OH. If you're close to 81 it would likely be Mechanicsburg.
