So what it makes the line shorter at the Blue Beacon when you go to get a truck washStraight Stacks Thanks this.
-
Not really, since it seems half the line at the Beacon is washouts.

Squeegees get worn out from heavy use and cheap truck stops not replacing them periodically. If you figure half hour lost for every time you fuel, if you're lucky, you will never be disappointed. Some of you guys must have very little to stress about if you get all worked up over nothing. Why let something like that bother you so bad? It's not good for the blood pressure. Don't let dummies have so much power over you.

I remember back in the 60 & 70's the Peerles Truck Stop in Cordell Ga had pump jockeys that would wash you tractor for you as THEY pumped your fuel, tipped them $5 and you got a pretty good wash job. Now that is my idea of a full service truck stop. And they were not the only ones with full service. Don't know of any now days. Like every thing, customer service is unheard of.
blairandgretchen and taxihacker66 Thank this. -
I don't go to town on it but I do scrub the bugs off the back of my mirrors and the front of the truck. If my truck looks like it is growing fur from all the bugs I scrub it. I only get it washed once every six weeks. In the meantime it can get pretty gross this time of year.

I was at the hook in B-HAM last week. while I was fueling a lady driver was next to me. had a small bottle of dawn washing her truck, then she pulled up to wash all 8 drives. I mean she got the rags & polishing cloths out. then she pulled up to get the trailer tires. then pulled almost all way up and used the sqeegee to wash the back doors of the van from top to bottom. these are the same people who throw all their trash out the window, but would throw a fit if someone threw trash in front of their home. they did not pay for the sqeegee, so they don't care. they hold up the fuel island but they don't care.

If I spent half a day at home washing waxing and polishing, or if I happened to spend $100+ getting it done.... just to gave some idiot spray nasty truckstop water on me they'd be eating that water hose. They get the stink eye from me.

If I had my choice between waiting in line behind a driver energetic enough to clean the nose and headlights of his truck. Or, waiting in line behind a driver with the modern day physique while he waddles into the truck stop to graze on the hot dogs and deep fried goodies...
Most of the truck stops used to have a tub of soapy water, long handled brush, and hose with a spray nozzle just for this reason. The squeegees had short handles cause an overwhelming majority of drivers were capable of climbing up on the frame rails to wash the windows.
Kind of like walking into the local store dirty these days and people think a guy is a bum, but years ago people respected that guy for putting in a honest days work!
I highly suggest driving nights if you don’t want to deal with lazy people!Cottonmouth85 Thanks this. -
I've seen that happen at one truck stop in Maryland a long time ago, guy got out of the truck, hosed himself down, took some liquid laundry soap and dumped it on his head and wiped himself down, sprayed it all off then got back into the truck and left.taxihacker66 Thanks this.
