So my company put me in a 14 freight cascadia evolution and I haul reefer. No matter what I do with a full tank of fuel I weight 12700 on my steers even if gross is 60000 any advice or should I just stop filling up all the way my 5th wheel is all the way back

That's freightliner cascadias with a heavy detroit engine. Put your 5th wheel back in a sensible forward position. It's not going to hurt your steer weight that much more and it will help your fuel economy significantly by reducing the turbulence behind the tractor.

The 12,700 can be lived with long term assuming you have a new tractor and appropriate steer tires and is not going to get you in a jackpot at the scales. Half of the fuel weight gets added to the drives so fill her up and don't worry about it. You have a Freightliner and this is your reality.

    What's wrong with 12,700?

If your tires and axle are rated for 13,000 you'll be just fine.

I roll around with 12,600 on my steers. I have a longer wheel base so im trying to keep the trailer closer.

Get better tires, and your axle should be rated for an appropriate weight.

I guess check the states you go through, but there are a lot of trucks with heavy motors that are over 12 on the steers.

Today, half of the trucks on the road are in excess of 12,500 on the steers. You can thank CARB for most of that.

Also, you can do some dieting and will help some and if you have a heavy co-driver, that's some additional weight to contend with.

DOT won't bother you if you're 12.500.I've ran that many times. If I weigh a load and its 500 over on any axle im going to go with it.

Don't worry about it. I've got a '15 Cascadia Evo and I can be as much as 13,600 on the steers. Never had a problem yet. I haul tanker and no matter what I do with the 5th wheel you can't get much change, despite being under gross. Scales seem to be more concerned about the weight on the drives. but like anything YMMV.
    Good luck.

Better question. Do you set your brakes when you scale? If so, DON'T. It adds weight especially to the front of your truck.
