G.Anthony...........
if he is telling you that, God only knows what other BS he is trying to get past you.
again, get my name right when you tell him that..
G.Anthony
i'd suggest you try and tell him that detention pay actually starts when you arrive and bump the dock, and that the minimum hourly rate, is $25.00 per hour.
again, get my name right, when you tell him i said so.
Herbert Hoover.BostonTanker Thanks this. -

wow g anthony you are pretty high on yourself 1 my boss is actually a good guy not exactly sure how everyone at work telling me its a law or even an "industry standard" would hurt. i want to get loaded and unloaded fast so even telling me the "lie" still works in my favor. 2 25 an hr huh? i doubt it maybe that what the company gets but i have talked to every driver i have come across i have never heard of a company driver making over 20 let alone 25 i have even seen owner ops making less than 25 on retention.

your boss is a moron for telling you it's the law to get detention. next will he tell you it's the llaw to change your underwear at each customer as well..???
for him or anyone else at your company to tell you it was the law, speaks volumes of your newness and naivety.
to be here and say you were told the law, proved just that.
do we all want to be unloaded/loaded fast..?? of course we do (or in my case did) but now i am responsible for the unloading myself at each of my stops, and i can assure you, that i do not wait.
but i "did my time" playing the waiting game, like everyone else here. but none of us were ever hornswaggled into thinking it was the law to get detention pay either.flyingmusician and 77smartin Thank this. -
For others, non-driving/accessory pay is most important.
Easy to get one, not so easy to get both. Especially as a noob. Also, I'm not sure I'd ever think of a Werner road trainer as "old guard", even if he's been driving 90 years.
As for OTR, if you look hard enough, there are companies who pay well for all of this. Some even pay hourly and OT for all duty time. Some even pay for your 30min breaks. Maybe not so much in the dry van world, tho I'm not familiar enough with it to know.
Glad to see you're getting it done, haven't seen you post in a while.
