I think this new contract is complete BS and NO ONE should sign it! EVERYBODY should leave and find work elsewhere!

With that said, I'll be going IC on choice hopefully by 01/01/16 and am expecting to see very few IC's out there grabbing all the good stuff.:p

What your ICA tells you and what is stated in the contract are different things.

Like a verbal deal..it doesn't mean squat when they TELL you what and where to take the M/T.
But hey as long as you guys are happy with it..sign away.
I wont mention the contract again.

Just keep in mind how long it takes to get an answer when you enter a exception for no empties at this location.
Anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
In the mean tick tick goes the clock
Guess you guys don't worry about that little tidbit.
    I do..as I run 2 loads a day most weeks.
And don't give me any of that garbage about being under 100 miles and business as usual crap.
They're already starting to push it.

    October will tell all..

I spoke with a driver on Friday who was 40 miles from home and delivered his last load and was going home. SNI had him take an empty even though he didn't need one 40 miles the opposite direction he was headed to drop an empty where they wanted one.

So instead of a 40 mile bobtail home he then had an 80 mile bobtail after dropping the empty at SNI discretion. He is a new driver who's been here less than a month and is already on the new contract. Yes they paid him 25.oo but he was forced to do the mt move because of the new contract.

So see its already being used to their advantage.

I know how much it costs me to operate my truck per mile emtpy with a trailer and bt. The amount is so small it's worth bting 400-500 miles for a load sometimes. This is the third time I've picked up this load and that was the shortest distance I've bt to get it so far. First time was 468 miles and I'll gladly bt that again for this load. less then 20k lbs drop and hook at both ends and the windows are so huge I can plan a 34 in there if I have to or at least swing by a terminal to do laundery :)

It's about know your numbers and how to operate your business. My tractor with a trailer costs me 23.5cpm to operate when empty, when under a load it averages about 65cmp. I am a numbers guy and like to know how I am doing as a business every week. I have spreadsheets and have take an accounting program and modified it for how I run my buisness and for my future plans.

My take home last week was $5,000 on 2786 miles doing only 4 loads. This week I'll be on track to net $2,200 but I took 2 days off on the beach up in Mass. Found a comfort suites hotel that had room for me to park my truck and trailer.

I know every one is bent out of shape on this contract but after reading it multiple times, I don't see where the problem is on the repositioning section. They will ask you to move a trailer or leave the trailer at your last location if you want to go more then 100 miles away for your next load. It's all about making sure there are trailers in the markets that need them and not 100's sitting in a market that doesn't need them. Now if they ask me to go 100 miles out of route to get a trailer or move a trailer then we will have issues :)

Unless the customer requires that you pull an empty from their facility, the smart thing to do would be just drop your load and bobtail straight home without even notifying them that you are doing it. By the time they figure it out you're already home, then update your events and NAT and change the available location to your park location. They have no idea you're going home unless you tell them beforehand.

You assume they will just say bobtail if you refuse to move the mt.

Truth is once it's signed you're agreeing to do the move and give up the right to refuse without fear of penalty which is at their random discretion.

What's fair about being fined randomly for bobtailing where you as the contractor chooses.

The load you bobtailed 315 miles for add in a couple trailer moves and a fine for going over 100 miles then tell us it's worth it.

My guess is you'd see things differently.

I am curious, wouldn't landstar be the same way if you are pulling their trailers? I mean if you are pulling someone elses trailer I can't imagine they would be ok if you just took it home with you for the week, took it out of that markets trailer pool, or left it someplace that didn't need the trailer so it sits for weeks not being used. Any company that owns equipment wants that equipment making money and it just sitting empty not being used isn't making anyone money.

I mean come one guys, Schneider isn't here just to make us money as they loose money in costs and expenses becuase we don't want to move their piece of equipment to better serve the customer who really pays us which then means more loads from that customer. But then again I look at this from an adult business point of view and the 5 year old temper tantrums most drivers seem to have becuase they believe they are intitled to making lots of money without doing the hard work. IT"S ALL THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS!

Seems to me new guy got took. BUT time to make a phone call could have prevented it.

Maybe this is why the push for relative inexerience is on. Guys who dont know better from experience.

No one is making anyone stay. If it's such a bad deal, leave and go get a better contract.
It's a joke when I hear guys complain and do nothing about it.

I'd be interested to see a tractor fleet location image. They have to have that dont they? Just to see how many are where at a given time.
