That right there is what I was trying (and hopefully got across) in my posts about my issues with that new contractor. All that for $25. LOL

You are right, I was wrong about one of my numbers, it should be 24.5cpm for running empty. My current 90 avarage is 8.3 mpg.
Nope, I am not slow or an idiot. You can believe whatever you want all day long. You have no clue what market I am running in or how I operate my tractor.
I don't believe that what my ICA states will be held up, I do believe what the contract states and how it will be executed once signed. Contract law is something I am very well versed in from my previous career. I haven't decided if I'll sign it yet, I am waiting to see if they send out a change.
If you also notice I haven't called multiple names in my response, but hey, I am an adult business owner.xlsdraw, MidWest_MacDaddy and centralmi Thank this. -
I will say that Schneider expects the bottom 30% to fail and the top 10% to out grow the choice program and leave. It's the 60 % in between they know will stay business as usual.
It's that 60 % they know they can walk all over. It's the top 10% they figure they'll eventually lose so they don't try and keep.
Of course this is my opinion based on my experience at Schneider.Pork Chop Express and FatDaddy Thank this. -

I know how much it costs me to operate my truck per mile emtpy with a trailer and bt.
Your cost per mile doesn't change..BT or pulling a trailer.
It's the cost to move your truck..24.5 cpm is low.
There's people on here who own their trucks out right who aren't that low.
But it doesn't really matter.
I just get tired of guys coming on here throwing numbers that aren't realistic.
Say what you will..the people who run a successful business KNOW what the freight is and what the runners can earn.
I really like the ones who run out of an area that I frequent where there is NO WAY IN H E L L they are running for what they say.
But again it doesn't matter..
Why should I even care what anyone writes on here?
I've got to let it go..
I've run very successfully since I've been here..more than likely the dreaded contract wont impact me.
I'm not very optimistic though..but that's my problem.
All I do know for sure is I have outgrown the Choice program.
It taught me what I need to know to take the step to being a business owner and what it entailed.
It also taught me I don't have to put up with things that SNI makes me do.
I'd rather deal with a cut throat broker than a Mega Carrier telling me they are entitled to make a profit off of me in ANYWAY they possibly can and I have to jump through certain hoops in order to operate under their authority.
So with that I will say apologies to anyone I may have offended.
Especially you RED..name calling was not called for.
All I ever wanted to do was keep people thinking.
I wish you all well.Opus, Pork Chop Express, T_TRUCKER. and 4 others Thank this. -
However my question is, do you guys getting paid for Schneider National propaganda against other contractors and drivers ?
If yes, how much Schneider National pays for supporting company and blame other contractors and drivers for everything?
And my final question is, how much you guys love Schneider ? It seems than even Schneider says you will not make any money working here, I guess you ready to say thats not a problem as long as Don Schneider is happy I don't need a money.Last edited: Aug 29, 2015

Seems someone forgot to figure a WAGE into the CPM or drives for FREE
Your cost per mile doesn't change..BT or pulling a trailer Cost for FUEL drops per mile when bobtail same as empty trailer compared to a loaded trailer so it reflects on your CPMFatDaddy Thanks this. -

How would you calculate your running costs to move your truck empty?
That $5,000 week was a one off so far, the loads lined up perfectly for me to make that. Most of the time I'll average about $1,800-$2,000 net. I am not trying to mislead anyone on here about what they can or can't do. It all depends on how hard you want to work and run your business.
Yes there is a different in running my truck BT versus pulling an empty trailer. You are not trying to pull an extra 15,000lbs of wieght which means you use less fuel. It's just like I can see a measurable difference between the trailers that have the skirts and the ones that don't . I'll loose almost 0.5mpg for the trailers without the skirts. Now if schneider would put tails on the trailers that almost another 1mpg increase in fuel economy.
My tractor was spec'd for optimal fuel economy from the gear ratios to the industry leading most energy effiicent supper singles. Schneiders tractors and trailers are lacking in many places for fuel economy. I'll probably this fall purchase the flow below system to help increase my fuel economy by another 1mpg. All of that makes a huge difference on how much fuel I use, which is the biggest expense we have out here.
That is why I say it is possible to make those numbers but it depends on how you run your business. Some owners prefer to driver 75mph (when it's legal) and burn more fuel. I am happy running less then 2,800 miles a week (my goal is to keep my average at 2500 or less) and netting $1,800-2,000.
I do appreciate your point of view on how your experience here has been and what you have seen. I am not niave enough to think that my way is the only way or even the right way. It's just what I have learned so far in my experience.
That is why from how this contract is and how my business plan is set up, staying at schneider is still the best choice for me at this time. By the end of next year I am looking at having my own authority in place and running that way. This is juat a very good stepping stone.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this.
