So does anyone else feel uneasy with what may be coming in the next few months. I know oil went up to $45 a bbl but we keep hearing about $20 a bbl in the near future. I still find myself lucky to have a job but we barely have any water and guys are getting asked to take voluntary days off. I was getting 12-14 hours every day now just lucky to get 9-10 or not sent home.
A few of us feel like we are in a holding pattern waiting to see what happens but fully ready to jump ship at a moments notice. Love my job, can't really beat how easy it is for the money but ltl linehaul isn't looking all that bad if things really take a nose dive.
In a holding pattern

Still moving in Ohio, but not fast. I'm headed for the exit. Gonna go play in another sandbox for awhile.

At this point I really feel lucky to still be working. I see a few other big companies have parked most of their fleets. I have 1 more month to get my year of class A and then I think I'm going to scoot on out of here.

Things aren't much better up in Alberta either. All OT has been cut and there have been a lot of layoffs since spring. There's a lot I want to do but I'm scared to take any unneccessary time off or make any big purchases until things level out. Not a good feeling but I guess as long as the mortgage is paid and the bank account is a little bigger at the end of the month, life is alright.

Last week we were told all day and night guys are limited to 2 loads. Really hope that things pick up soon, maybe with the cooler weather.
I talked to trimac about hauling crude and sounds like they have some work up here.
Old Dominion said my experience doesn't count due to a majority of it being on dirt roads. Really? WTF I drive at night off road passing other trucks on narrow dirt roads with a huge ditch on each side that could easily cause a roll over. Backing into frac sites. Gosh this industry is jacked up. It's either you have class b and need class a or you have class a but it needs to be otr or you have class a but not on pavement. It's always something but anyways rant over, I'm checking out Saia as a possible route. ABF has a casual position. I could always do that and drive for Uber on the side or something. I definitely don't feel good obout going otr again.Stubby T Slapnutt and pathfinder1361 Thank this. -
Same in the Permian Basin. My company and one other only two spending any money here. ( Oil Co. ) I'm not in trucking anymore ( work direct for oil co. ) and feel the same pressures. We have some things going on that were capex approved moons ago but that will be done by the holidays and I don't see much coming. Fully expect the hatchet at that point........
And the irony, have nearly 30 years in trucks, mostly behind the wheel in tanks. All spotless too. If I try to come back I promise you they will tell me I have no experience lol. Really? That's fine.....no big loss to me.
Just save, save save and hope the Iranian deal doesn't go through. Things will get better after the election.

Things haven't changed much for me. I'm making a dollar less per hour and I'm getting 65 hours per week instead of 70, but tensions are high. Through dumb luck I wound up with a good gig in a high producing field for an oil company thats still willing to repair wells when they go down. But now that it looks like the oil slump is going to last into 2017, we're all very nervous about what will happen at the end of the year. Everyone on our location knows that it only takes one little screw up and we'll be run off. It's not a good atmosphere.

I work offshore in the deep sea oil patch and Chouest laid up 55 boats recently. Harvey Gulf laid up 20+. hell we cant even order tabasco sauce in our food orders anymore. the cuts are getting deep.
