Have been with Schneider for 7 months. Got my first raise after six to 0.37 (minus the two cents they steal for per-dium). Other companies offer much more pay. Why do I stay with Schneider? Why do you stay with Schneider for less money?

I agree and the 5 months will go quick.
Start doing some detailed research now so you can jump an be on your way.
I'll say again it'll go quick, your going to go to sleep on Monday and wake up and that 5months has past. -
LOL -- Was surprised to hear this as I thought I was the only one that was thinking of the last bonus installment. Other companies said they would pay two CPM more than their starting wage if I had a full year with Schneider instead of only 7 months. So you win both ways!
So you are saying that the sign-up bonus is what keeps drivers at Schneider? Have spoken to A LOT of ex-Schneider drivers too. This also means you don't have to do the faked "Dog and Pony show" for your driver review with the OSR after a year. -
It may be.more per mile but less miles; more base pay but less accessory pay; vacation pay; you have to lookbatvthe whole pay pacakage.
Then you need to.look at company culture. In July we had a driver leave and.come.back a week later because his "new, better" company asked/told him to do something unsafe or illegal. A significant number of people who leave come back because the grass may be greener but it doesn't taste any sweeter.
Also look at where you're going to have to park for hometime/ where you have to.leave your car while on the road.
A lot of.factors go into why some of us stay. For me there aren't any companies that would be a guaranteed step up in terms of pay benifits and home time AND LIVING WHERE I CHOOSE TO LIVE. I could move and make more, potentially. But I like my dbl, I like what I earn, and I like "being the captain of my ship". If I don't want to nobody pressures me to move. -
First .... you should never get per-dim..... AS long haul you are intiled to 60 $ per day expenses off your taxes! if you get per dim you lose that!
if you are driving 300 days per year it is about 48 weeks... times 2500 miles per week times 2 cents per mile =240$ that you get tax free
48 weeks times 2500 * 55(or 50 or 60.... not sure how much we are intilted to spend per day)
= 2400 or 2800 per year tax deductible..... that you do not have if you take per dim
Per dim is good if you are in a divorce situation and you want to make your income as little as possible the first year
do not play company game and do not take that! You lose a lot on taxes! taking per dim is the worst choice of your life but I am to drunk to explain! -
To start with its 80% of $59 .....
-
1st question for you is, is staying on per diem beneficial too your situation?
-
I am not divorced nor pay child support as I never met my wife or kids. Have already spoken with other companies that will pay me 17 cents more and do not offer per dium.
When I spoke with drivers with these companies and found out that their "net pay" is twice what mine is it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that I've been had. My gross pay will be less than $30k this year. Divide that by 70 hours (not 40) and I would be better off flipping hamburgers.Lone Ranger 13 Thanks this. -
So then really whats the question? Why aren't you waiting on orientation?
