Good question. Right now RM is testing the 510/710 for the new software and maps. Part of the issue is the software is on a new core and the x10's have slower hardware than the x20's and x30's. We hope for no issues but that again will be a business decision that I will not have control of. I can only give my input.
Yes the JV is fixed on the current version.
Thanks,mark

The DC connector on the back of the 720 might be bad also. Do you see 5 gold tips looking at you when you look straight at it?

mehowski ; same kind of problem I and others have had . I also used many different cables . some worked a while but not long . Open it up . the usb plug is very simple thing . Problem with them is they are not built tough . they ar emade of very thin metal and the tabs that hold down the pins in cable to the pins in connector are just cut out of the thin metal box around connector and they just get loose . Just like if you lay your fingers on right hand on top of left fingers and move around .you fingers are not going to stay on place unless you apply pressure .
here is a good pic of one . http://s416.photobucket.com/user/marcuskillion/library/usb . Just bend down them two tabs on top so they hold your plug in place . .If you bend too much the plug will not go in . Get it good and tight and then leave plug in and put a little hot glue on top of them tabs so they can not bend back up .
solved problems with flashing light , shut off , charging ... -

The USB connector on the 720 with the DC cord is tight. Is you are using a 3rd party cord the specs may be off some. I have rarely seen a USB end of the DC cord wear out the internal metal on the USB end. You can call rm support for another DC cord.

95% of the time I have seen people with their GPS cords just hanging straight off the plugin...extremely bad for such a tiny connection.
Need to wrap excess cord at least twice around mounting bracket & leave a nice loose loop that plugs into unit to take static & impact strain off connector & transfer it onto wire longitudinally instead to absorb the bumps & yanks of everyday driving.
On my original cable for past 500,000+ miles with only minor charging problems solved by the plier clamp trick.markk and Mark Kling Thank this. -
