Well, the $*%ing recruiter told me company trucks have APUs. When I got there and found out that only o/o got APU's, I was pissed. I asked him where my company truck with an APU was, and all he could say was that I should be ready to lease within 3 months.

####, I can remember getting high idle time numbers getting stuck in traffic. That's completely awesome.

Idle air will probably cost you around 22.50 to 25.00 for a 10 hour reset depending on what plan you buy
Sorry just had to chime in
Don't forget the other idle time that adds up
Example while waiting in line to be unloaded

First, Idle Aire filed Chapter 11 Reorganization bankruptcy which means their intent is to continue operations and find a way to reorganize their debt structure to enable them to do so. Many airlines have done this and are still in the air today. Second, I have a friend who works for them and he told me they are working out a deal where they will sell the assets to their creditors and the plan is those creditors will keep Idle Aire operational. Third, the government has poured alot of subsidy money into Idle Aire and I would almost expect to see, as a last resort, a bail out of some sort. After all, they are helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions which we all know cause gloabal warming.

Idle Aire's problems, from my perspective (and I worked for them for ahwile), were caused by a too-aggressive roll out plan which has sinced been halted. When I worked for them, they had plans to add 200 sites over a couple of years. Problem was , most of those sites were late in coming on line. And in our case, they had already hired the full crew and we were working when, due to state requirements, our launch date was put on hold. They had the financial commitments to Petro and payroll to cover and they opened a couple of months later significantly in the hole.

Man I hope this statement is tongue in cheek. There is no such thing as "global warming"

If you turn the key to the off and not the acc position the battery's wont run down like that. Your pulling an extra battery around anyway just make shore you have jumper cables that can get the job done.
At 25% you are idling half of the number of ten hour days you work. If you sleep at night and keep the truck off when its not more than 75 at bed time you can really cut your idle time. Window screens will help, and there are even window fans now. Summer is the hardest time to keep your idle times down since its easier to get warm than it is to cool down. Do they reward you for doing better with your idle time than is required?
Once you get an APU (I think truck makers will make them a standard soon) your going to find out that the idle time numbers will go down and your limit will be about 5%, mine is 3% on average. On real hot days I still need to idle to get the temp in the sleeper down since the APU cant keep up with temps more than 95F outside.

It was. It is interesting to note that the same ones feeding us global warming garbage were telling us we were headed for the next ice age 20 years ago.
