I do think the biggest problem is people don't plan accordingly. That, and they think that since they are "owner operators" that they can spend as much time home as they want! Which is fine and dandy as long as you've made enough to cover all your fixed expenses and household bills during your time off. Maybe they never learned that you don't make any money with a truck if the tires aren't rolling...
I have a spreadsheet with our household budget and also made one to figure out how much he would need to cover fixed expenses and fuel. We went a little higher on those figures, actually figuring $2500 combined for a week, just to be safe. I would rather figure high then low, personally. We don't know exactly what the fixed costs will be yet, just going on the average of what we've read on these forums.

They need to learn from some were I think pomkin offers a business class we something like that but they don't listen to any one of us because we don't have a college degree well let me speak for myself but what I have learned in my over 21 years hell college cannot teach me that

I went to school for Business Administration, though I didn't get my degree because we started a family. But I did have my own small home-based candle business for a couple of years, but my husband's income paid for all of that, lol. I have some accounting experience and know how to keep track of everything, so I'm hopeful that my knowledge and experience will be beneficial. He can drive the truck and deal with brokering his loads, for the most part, and I'll keep track of the finances.

Also looking back freight rates were and still are falling especially dry van and with no familiarity with brokered freight and being told we would be planned on the best freight they could find(btw big lie!) no traing no support and shxxty communication of the expectation we should have especially the role or operations managers wtf did they expect! Also eagle qualified AND HIRED said drivers then failed to support them.....why???? This was the most expensive and difficult learning experience of my life but it also helps build the foundation of knowledge that I hope to build on for my future endeavors

Here's one of the things I did notice the loads they were giving me were always the longest and last ones sitting on load boards! Why coz no one else would take them! Then they would argue that's the best they can find so just to make a point I'd get way better and say wow look what I found, think that didn't go over to well.lol u do not just have to work the Midwest! U can find good rates with a wide variety of brokers all over the country but u do have to work harder at it.....and they wouldn't do it just tell me they were giving me the best freight but it was really the easy cheap garbage I observed this for several weeks just waiting lol so I could make my point of it...... Burned my bridges too probably with several there becoz I confronted them with there nonsense lol and I did it PURPOSEFULLY
