and do you KNOW what an ECO truck is? Smallest sleeper possible, no storage, no human comfort, small fuel tanks, all so they can load the trailer with 50,000lbs of freight.[/QUOTE]

Good point, TLeaHeart! And does anyone remember that crook that ran Midwestern Distribution out of Ft. Scott, KS? Danny Ellis! He went over to Prime after Midwestern dissolved. Same basic plan for "buy a truck from us" as Midwestern, otherwise known as a "use-a-driver" contract. And it was a Catch 22 contract. When it's to their benefit, it's your truck; when it's to their benefit, it's their truck. They'd do everything they could to make sure you didn't end up owning that truck. And those old Freightliners were stripped down with no frills, no jake brake, no air ride passenger seat, no trolley valve, two 85 gal. fuel tanks, a 290 hp Fuel Squeezer Cummins, all so they could haul heavy freight at cheap rates across the 48. What a racket they had!

Midwestern Dist. was my first job. Not much to choose from since my CDL school was only 10 days. Yep, it was the worst company in the nation. Within a week I started submitting those mail-in applications found in those racks at truckstops and within 3 months had a job hauling boats from the Pro-Craft factory.
Midwestern was awful, but we do what we have to do sometimes to get started.

A short while ago, (about a month ago), I spoke with someone in recruiting. One of the things that he told me is that Stevens has NEVER had a layoff in all the years that they have been in business.
Also, the recruiter mentioned that the most senior company driver, at Stevens Transportation, has been working for them for 37 years. THAT IS QUITE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT!!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
