For my 5 yrs driving Knight Express, that was S.O.P. for both 'inherited' tractors as well as MT trailers! I've got horror stories (and PTSD :p ) !!

I kept bothering the guy in Atlanta and he called me to grab a dedicated load one of the guys fell off of. Short 250 mile run but it pays me 220 bucks plus 2 stop pays and the deadhead miles to get it will pay me mileage. I just made some dough this weekend. The squeaky wheel gets the grease yet again. Empty and waiting on a load in the morning.

Surprisingly another trailer did hit the yard. Brand new too. A trainer and trainee dropped it off. I pretripped it and found 3 tires below 90 one of which was totally flat. I was like you've got to be kidding me. Aired it all up and no holes. Swapped it for this trailer that seems to be in great shape.

If this TA had idle air I would be all over that. So hot in Texas right now. Will be heading back inside until the sun goes down.

What? Over 90? Don't they let you idle at those temps? Dang... :-(

They do but I don't want to idle until tomorrow morning. I will idle later when I need it to sleep. For chill time I'll just go inside. I rarely idle my truck. If I do it's only for an hour or two.

I idled my truck as necessary to stay comfortable. I remember one evening at the Las Vegas terminal I had to turn the whole rig around to get the cab out of the setting sun. At 0400 when I got up it was still in the 90's.

Lol aye, Protip for the Prostar's, They dont vent engine heat well at idle, if your at a yard parked where no one will screw with you pop the hood and leave it open. You will notice a 10 - 20 degree drop in your cab.

Thanks for the tip. Lucky for me, no more worries about that anymore. Been working local for two years now. Sleep in my own bed every night. Still miss being OTR at times tho.
